exactly the result rosberg needed. much better to be the hunter than the hunted. means he doesnt have to feel as pushed now.

Corner 1.............Rosberg gets shunted out of the race..........Ham goes on to win the Championship!

and all the F1 fans will know it too. If Rosberg wins tomorrow he will save some face, but I doubt he will win.

People are so hung up on this, it's meaningless. No one thinks he's a better driver anyway, it's a mechanical sport where the driver is a tiny tiny fraction of the cars performance. Hamilton fans did nothing but beat on Vettel when he won title after title despite being in the best car. Hamilton never got near a title when he wasn't in the best machinery, unlike someone like alonso.

Even if Hamilton wins the title he's still not widely regarded as the best on the grid, so how is that any different if Rosberg wins it because he's in the best car. Hamilton has only won it for the last few years because he's had a duff team mate or better drivers are in crap cars.

It's nothing new, pick just about any year and it's rare someone hasn't benefited from someone else either being in a crap car or poor reliability.

Like the poles it doesn't matter if Rosberg wins the race, he's not fighting that kind of title battle anymore. Pushing for poles in the last 3 or 4 races was not the kind of thing he has had to do.

I don't much care which one of them wins, they are both huge peckers but this is the worst period of F1 since MS dominance. Mercedes should have won every single race this year.

so glad i didnt read that last paragraph as have instead of are.

Well Hammi has been unlucky with mechanical failures, but he should have got at least second in Japan.
Singapore was not totally his fault, but I hoped for more, oh and Baku.

i think hamiltons a good racer but alonso is the best f1 driver of our current era.

I disagree: when the two were in the same team, Hamilton beat him. Right now, I'd give Raikonnen the edge over Alonso, and Hamilton over both of them. It's too early to make any judgement on Verstappen, but he's certainly impressive.

Not read the thread, already know what content is involved.

Won't be posting tomorrow, good luck to both. Whoever wins will be remembered as World Champion and that's all she wrote.

He will be remembered as the champion for about 4 months until it starts all over again.

Hopefully Hamilton continues his current form next season. It would be nice if he could make it at least 7 consecutive wins ;)

Great laps from Hamilton - he's doing everything he can. Unfortunately for him, so is Rosberg. Clear first corner and couple of laps tomorrow and then, barring a mechanical failure or a highly unfortunately timed safety car, Rosberg should take the title.

If you want to measure a driver over one season sure, over 1 season Button beat hamilton. Alonso was racing for a team boss that went back on his word, that clearly fell out with him and he was racing in a hostile environment. That he even got the same amount of points is testament to how good he was. Other drivers would have fallen apart like that, Mansell couldn't hack it, Villeneuve couldn't when Richards openly favoured Button. Imagine Lewis woe is me hamilton joining Alonso in a situation where Alonso was the teams favourite. He wouldn't get half the points. He's struggled to keep his emotions in check and hinting at unfair play with a putz like Rosberg. Joining a pro Alonso camp would destroy him.

As for Kimi he's not even the 10th best driver in F1 in the period he's been racing let alone better than Alonso. It's insulting to have that lazy useless waste of talent mentioned in the company of even Button let alone Alonso. He's was good for a small window at mclaren.

Would be interested to know how many On-track overtaking maneouvers drivers have completed this season. Mainly Rosberg and Hamilton, but generally.

It's a bit of a moot point because the front runners only need to make overtaking manoeuvres when they're behind where they normally 'should' be.

E.g. Mechanical failure in quali puts you at the back of the grid when you would normally be on pole will give you an unusually large number of overtakes that you usually wouldn't need.

I'm not sure what you're trying to prove? Unless you mean drivers overtaking other drivers?

ANYTHING could happen at the start..

Rosbergs nerves could mean he gets away slowly, Ricciardo and Verstappen and also the Ferraris might be able to capitalise.

ALso, Id expect Hamilton to back Rosberg into the pack... regardless of what he "said" about going off into the distance.

You heard it here first.
