Piastri takes a 5th consecutive F2 pole position. Makes it even more sickening he isn't in an F1 car next year.
Sadly to get in F1 you need some mega sponsorship money from questionable states or be in a driver academy. He’s in the Alpine one but they don’t have any seats. Needs to hope the Alpines a turkey next season and Fred packs up!

no way in the world Zhou, Tsunoda or Mazepin deserve to be on the grid ahead of him though.

No matter what the outcome, I wonder who will play Lewis and Max in the movie.

Given in Rush someone had to play "the Rat" Nikki, I wonder who will be playing "strange shaped face" Max ?!! I'm sure Lewis already has decided who he wants to play himself!

I was a fan when he was in F3. I expected he'd romp to a Rookie championship in F2 (like Charles and George did) and gutted he isn't in a car. Maybe they should do a draft system for F1 where F2 champ is guaranteed a drive.

I increasingly think these academies are a problem. If he was a free agent, I'm pretty sure he'd have a seat, but since he's tied to Alpine and everyone expects him to get a seat there in 2023, people don't want to take on a rookie for a year when they know they're not going to benefit from the driver he develops into. It doesn't help that Alpine are so miserably bad at making space for their academy drivers and don't have associated teams to place drivers at.

No doubt it'll all change, but that Red Bull doesn't look fully dialled-in to me.

Yeh absolutely no point in comparing FP stuff all teams hold back for quali but its easy for Sky to waste a few minutes here and there by doing this.
Rubbish. That's not a car holding back, that's a car that's got understeer

Sky Sports aired a ‘Merry Christmas’ message on their F1 channel that included the Silverstone crash between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen. They have since removed the footage of the crash after complaints from Red Bull.

Karen Horner and co at it again. Just think, if Max gave some space he might be 18 points ahead today.

What do people think about having first practice session for third drivers only, with the provision that third drivers cannot have raced more than certain number of F1 races (so that it doesn’t exclude someone who covers a race due to COVID) or 2 years in that role. Could give a way to help bridge in to F1 for the rookies and give links to aid contracts. I would suggest an. additional session, but I always feel that the three practice sessions can be excessive unless there is rain.

Would only work if they were allowed t cars or no penalties for damage again, imagine someone in a merc or rbr smashing up a car Friday morning necessitating, engine, gearbox or one other change.

What happens if a driver stacks it so badly in practise or qualifying that their car can’t be repaired in time for the race? In the old days, they’d get in the T Car. Nowadays, are they allowed to hop into their team mates car and use that instead?

Don’t teams have a half-built chassis on hand just in case?
