I'm actually not answering the question. The poll is 'Are you an aspiring don/underboss?'

Which is asking if people actively want to be dons or underbosses. My answer although related is not the same as the original question.

Person A: "Is it your ambitiuon to be a don/underboss?"

Person B: "Hell, no"

Person A: "OK, but what if I could make you a Don this second?"

Person B: "Hell, yeah, who can I ban first?"

It's a poweh thing.

The power thing is a novelty though, it wears off. After being an admin/moderator on forums before and having admin on numerous gaming servers - it wouldn't be the power thing for me. For those who haven't had it before, I could understand your point though.

Well you obviously got all excited about being a moderator on an internet forum when it was offered to you, but not everyone thinks like you do.

What a shame you're not a mod any more. Actually... no it isn't.

maybe for a 17year old, but not for a person trying to uphold the fine standards of OCUK...

My answer would be the same to both questions ...... "thanks, but no thanks."

Power thing? Modding an internet forum? I sincerely hope you're kidding.

In the absence of any smiley faces there, I'll take the latter comment at face value, it's nice to know how you feel about the time I spent being a moderator/administrator on here.

I wouldn't say I was excited about being offered UB/Don/Admin roles. Pleased, yes. Honoured to be offered, yes. Excited as in jumping up and down, no. What makes you think I was 'obviously excited'?

Sequoia - Remember we're dealing largely with people here who are much younger and less experienced in the ways of the world than us. Yes, I do think a lot of people would consider that being a Don is a very powerful role in the forums.

BTW - For what it's worth, I voted no. It's a role I spent a lot of time doing to the best of my ability. It's not something I'd care to do again.

Yeah, that's true. Perceptions do change, hence the "Grumpy Old Men" series on TV (new series due soon, I believe).
 
It can not be a power trip, at least not on these forums due to the multi don to get anything done stuff going on.
 
I would be most honoured to be asked as I like these forums a lot and have a great deal of respect for the current moderating team.

My work however, means that I am away from home quite a lot and sometimes have limited access to the internet and the forums so, unless there was a "part-time" UB/don position :p , I would be unable to put in the effort required.

One thing I would like though, is one days unfettered access to the Dons room etc. (especially the naughty corner) :D

Its kind of like real power, but its all online and doesn't have much substance IMO. I'm sure the hierarchy of the boards isn't present at meets etc

I've been an operator on many IRC channels and I admit, the responsibility of banning idiots and people showing you respect is humbling, but its nothing I'd go out of my way to obtain.
