Advice for DIY install of bathroom and waterproofing walls - can I tile a dot and dabbed wall?

Use a full tanking kit, if you have an issue with your tiles / grout in a few years you can get water getting through. I ended up replacing bathroom as i could not track down where a leak was coming from. Ended up being betwen tile and grout, by that stage i'd already ripped up floor tiles and had the shower damaged so had to keep going.

No, it isn't the right product for this job.
I'll double check with the supplier.

You just multi bond and tape them.

I presumed that putting silicon over the spankers seems like something that isn't in reality likely to Leak through? I don't really get if it's meant to be applied to the hole as you put it in or over it once it's on? Seems an unlikely position for leakage (particularly as you're going to have to trowel adhesive over the spankers )

Not sure if it even requires tape?

See above, I used the Nicobond branded version of the tape.

Taped all the floor to wall joints and spankers on the floor then did the wall joints and spankers in the wet areas and slightly past.

Just watch your corners, I didn't buy the pre made corners just did my own (fold in half along the length, perpendicular cut half way and fold) I was very tight on my measurements for the tray and boards and didn't factor in the thickness of the tape in the corners, tight was is an understatement:cry::D

Are 'spankers' considered the best mechanical fixing of tile boards onto brick and concrete then? Combined with an appropriate adhesive? What about self tapping brick screws?
I think you could use these or wall plugs plus screws (e.g. Red rawl plugs) but the spankers will be quicker

I've never got on well with brick screws to be honest.

Multi bond is a hybrid sealant and adhesive so it’s not straight silicone sealant. I’m sure they’ll be plenty of other brands which have an equivalent.

If interested all, the total cost of all the tanking gubbins Inc boards, niche, fixings/washers/ spankers/primer and tile adhesive(s) approx £800.

The cost of materials has gone mad, but I'm sure I could have certainly done it cheaper too to be fair.
