advice needed, I'm thinking of changing to 40"

does this look right ?

34" 1440p, approx. 80cm viewing distance , 110 ppi ?
Bet you never thought
It was so difficult to choose a monitor lol

34 ultra wide 3440 x 1440p at 110ppi
Is what I have
Distance from screen (your eyes)
I have about 70cm though 80cm would be fine
Just means am stretching a bit to reach mouse and keyboard
But if its a video not using mouse and keyboard
Then I probably sit back to around 90--100cm

im further back than you

i found this website that calculates viewing distances and give ratios, and ppi

by going by that and ignoring panel, refresh rates and flat or curved screens, looking at ppi and viewing distances, this is what ive found

So going by these, id like some help to eliminate some screens

ill start with mine and work my way up,

27" 2560x1440 (16:9) 109 ppi , min viewing distance = 0.43m , max viewing distance = 1.15m (0.79m)

32" 2560x1440 (16:9) 93 ppi , min viewing distance = 0.51m , max viewing distance = 1.36m (0.96m)

34" 3440x1440 (43:18 / 21:9) 110 ppi , min viewing distance = 0.57m , max viewing distance = 1.53m (0.79m)

34" 3840x1440 (8:3) 120 ppi , min viewing distance 0.58 , max viewing distance 1.55m (0.70m)

38" 3840x1600 (12:5) 109 ppi , min viewing distance 0.64m , max viewing distance 1.71m (0.79m)

39" 3440x1440 (43:18) 96 ppi , min viewing distance 0.65m , max viewing distance 1.76m (0.87m)

40" 3440x1440 (43:18) 93ppi , min viewing distance 0.67m , max viewing distance 1.80m (0.96m)

40" 5120x2160 (64:27) 139 ppi , min viewing distance 0.67 , max viewing distance 1.80m (0.61m)

42" 3840x2160 (16:9) 105 ppi , min viewing distance 0.66m , max viewing distance 1.79m (0.87m)

43" 3840xx2160 (16:0) 102 ppi , min viewing distance 0.68m , max viewing distance 1.83m (0.87m)

45" 5120x1440 (32:9) 118 ppi , min viewing distance 0.79m , max viewing distance 2.12m (0.70m)

49" 5120x1440 (32:9) 109 ppi , min viewing distance 0.86m , max viewing distance 2.31m (0.79m)

These ones in bold i think are the most suitable (in my opinion) going by the min viewing distance and good ppi

I would agree with your choices in bold

For me anyway
34 at 3440 x 1440p still first choice
A reason for that for me in particular
Got quite a few herniated vertebrae so my back and neck
Are rather ######

The 21:9 screen ratio allows me
To see the whole screen in one go
Whereas your other 2 bold choices not only are
A higher resolution
But a different aspect ratio
Meaning the vertical height of the screen is more
And gives me neck and back pain
As can't see all the screen so easily

Once again personal choice
As your body may be more mobile than mine
Which wouldn't be difficult

Also don't think it was mentioned
What gpu you will be using?
More resolution/more pixels means more work
For the gpu

Would depend on usage also, just for windows?- so split screen effect isn't demanding with such a high res, or gaming?

Ie if using Windows, then UW with one side explorer another side photoshop etc is fine. but 3840x1600 for games? Would hurt FPS

I'm struggling with what you're asking?
You currently have a 109ppi screen that the text is too small, do why are you still looking at 110ppi screens?

Ignore the viewing distance, as unless you are changing that radically it makes much less difference than going up a bigger screen size.

Going to a higher resolution is always going to make text smaller unless you equally go up a couple of monitor sizes or use scaling

what size of screens do you recommend ?

Nope higher ppi = higher resolution = smaller text

Nope. If you want bigger native font, you need

1) Bigger screen
2) Lower resolution
3) Use windows scaling 125% 150% etc

For PQ it's probably best to keep it to ~110P and just use Windows scaling.

ok cool , thanks guys

any screens you would recommend i take a look at that's bigger than mine?
