Afghanistan - 20 years on

To be fair unless Iran or Russia hands them fairly high end SAM's they're not reaching the 35,000+ that an airliner is going at; that's fairly specialist stuff.
Its why they kept flying over Ukraine; they thought it almost impossible that Rebels or the Ukrainian Army had anything capable of that height.

Yup - unless someone has smuggled something in nothing of that capability exists in Afghanistan - but some of the surrounding countries do so a very long shot it could happen if something was stolen and smuggled in.

But they can just sit by the end of the runway

Edit nvm thought that was about evacuation fligjts

I'm curious as to the airport defences against incoming stuff used against planes taking off - the likes of CRAM can be a touch risky when you have friendly stuff in the air as well as incoming threats.

I’m sorry, I’m watching this press conference live and what exactly is wrong with it?
People making out like he’s an incoherent mess, but he seems far from it to me….

The first couple of minutes or so were barely more than an incoherent mess, the rest has been a stumbling mess with a few moments of better made points.

"Up to date with commanders in the field, mostly by LETTER." LOL

Maybe they should have spent some of that 80 billion in equip they left the Taliban on wifi instead of carrier pigeons, so dimwit in chief can stay up to date via letter.
