Afghanistan - 20 years on

Yes ordinary people, women children and old unarmed men standing up to armed battle hardened religious fanatics.

Please, think before posting

Wow do you think we were fighting for 20 years?

Those battle hardened veterans were unarmed children when we started dropping bombs on then

And why aren't the Taliban banned?

People are just crybabies when it comes to Trump, it's silly.

Don't know mate, I'm not in charge of twitter or their rules.

If I had to guess, then I would probably says it's because the Taliban have been tweeting orders to their footsoldiers such as "Don't kill everyone" and if they were to be banned, this could lead to civilian casualties?

i imagine its because they actually listen to advice about what they can and cant get away with on twitter. Trump just ignored everyone and posted whatever he wanted.
he must have been warned by advisors many times

Yes, I'm sure they're all routinely checking Twitter in between their door to door pillaging :p

And why aren't the Taliban banned?

Presumably because they haven't broken Twitters rules. The Chinese are still on there, and they're busy running actual concentration camps. Twitter is not in the business of banning people because they're bad people, they're in the business of banning people - eventually, maybe - because they break their rules.

Crazy scenes in Kabul right now.

'US military plane evacuates 640 Afghan refugees from Kabul after Taliban takeover.'

A US cargo plane has safely transported a group of 640 Afghan refugees out of Hamid Karzai international airport in Kabul.

The pilot of the US Air Force C-17 Globemaster III, which has a carrying capacity of 134 soldiers, said the decision was made to take the refugees out of Kabul after they pulled themselves into the cargo hold using the half-open ramp.

Speaking to US defence and security news site Defense One, a defence official said “the crew made the decision to go".

The situation at the airport appears much more calm today with US/Allied forces in control of the military side and with some control of the civilian side of the airfield too.
The hundred and thousands of people there yesterday appear to have gone home or fled.

Pretty much...These soldiers grew up in the digital age. 70% of the population of Afghanistan has smart phones.

Believe it or not they use bots to spread their message or misinformation. They quickly upload footage of Afghan soldiers surrendering and sent it around in the hopes that others will surrender.

Half the battle is propaganda on the internet.

Dont you expect the president of the United States to be held to a higher standard?

Of course, but evil regimes should not have access either. I'm not defending anything Trump has done, but he was a legally elected official, there are many people spreading hatred on Twitter (directly or indirectly) who are not. It just doesn't sit right.

I suppose you could argue there are benefits to being able to see what they are saying, but that would be extremely naive as they aren't stupid - they're just trying to keep the heat off, and then they'll crack on as they always do.

Which rule have they broken.

As remember twitter is bound by US law not to editorialise or they will become a publisher.

A US president would have to change that law..

Well this of course.

A former President telling the country that a completely free and fair election was stolen, and continuing to say it to this day puts him in the dangerous ballpark

Why do you keep bringing up Trump?
Is it point scoring or have you got a fetish about him.
Also. What dangerous ballpark is this you speak of in the UK?

Well yeah isn't like they have access to a dedicated satcom network. So may as well use someone elses, when they use walkie talkies the us/ana just listen in.

Twitter is at least secure in the situation
