Afghanistan - 20 years on

Looks like the UK mainstream media and goverment is increasingly pushing the line that this is a 'new' more moderate and liberal Taliban who are very different than those in power previously. Whether this is true or simply an attempt by the Government to save face after the withdrawl and/or gain favour with any new regime in hopes of a trade deal/etc remains to be seen I guess....

"Pentagon pressed on why British paratroopers leaving Kabul airport to rescue citizens but Americans aren't"

"
At a press briefing, Fox News' Jennifer Griffin said: "General Taylor, British paratroopers are leaving the airport, going into Kabul to rescue and evacuate some of their citizens who are trapped [and] can't get to the airport because of the Taliban."

"Why isn't the U.S. doing that?" she asked."

Biden is in his bunker and has took all public remarks, press briefings and press conferences off his schedule.
The guy has lost the plot and he knows it.

What a coward.

Well done to our paratroopers.

Interesting call signs on the aircraft the US have doing the evac currently - Moose43 and Moose44 C17s (heavy lift) and tankers up one with the call sign Mojo89.

Apparently the Taliban are now conducting door to door searches looking for anyone who worked for the allies, or anyone related to them and executing them, apparently.

Totally new Taliban on display here, they're just 'country boys' eh....

What a nightmare..

In my life I've never seen the British doing something that the Americans aren't. We're the ones usually trailing behind. But now we've taken the initiative. It is odd how quickly the Americans are trying to get out of there and apparently aren't that bothered about leaving American citizens behind.

 No backbone they have already accepted defeat. They better hope we recieve no attacks as I will be :mad::mad:

British Paras rescuing our citizens and the US sat aside doing nothing, what a weak incompetent leader Biden is, absolutely clueless. Say what you want about Trump but at least he wasn't weak. I feel sorry for the Americans, they look really bad right now.

Claims more hardline Taliban elements are moving towards Kabul from provinces further out who'd want to try and exact revenge against US and UK troops - dunno how much there is to it. Apparently the Taliban currently in control of Kabul are from surrounding districts who are mostly more moderate.
