Age of Conan

When it comes to the chat interface, it is the same interface as is used for Anarchy Online, and is recognised as one of the more powerful chat systems around... want to talk to someone with a strange looking name... click on them, the /tell %t message

it should be, %t for target, %m for self

Thats not very user friendly though, it should be a simple case of clicking someone and chatting to them. Unless its possible to bind to a key or something, which would be ideal

Funny I see it the other way around lol

Really? I remember Wow not having nearly enough servers for launch...people actually had to que to get into servers sometimes for hours.

The update manager download took a lot longer than the 42.3mb patch i'm downloading. Getting 1mb a second.

Amen, I was there. Server queues, high lag, disconnects, and the Hellscream server park kept bloody going down ¬_¬

Not to even mention ingame bugs! haha

Anyone who says WoW didn't have a fairly rough EU launch is wearing rose tinted glasses, the amount of days they had to give free to people over the first couple of months will back that!

The difference is that when WoW came out there was nowhere near as much competition in the market so people were happy to put up with the bugs and continue playing

I think that the financial reality of the market is that games *will* be released unfinished and patched/tuned on a rolling basis. Release WoW was in the same state as AoC is now. I don't blame the developers - I'm sure they'd like to release a perfect game, but pressure from whoever is bankrolling a project makes it harder. I don't think there are any widespread gamebreaking bugs with AoC as such and I've no doubt they are working flat out to prioritise/fix things as they are reported.

WoW launch seemed fine for me, didn't have any problems. And I certainly didn't have any performance issues. Ran it on everything full constant 60 fps, whereas with AoC everthing low I get 30 fps max, and I tell you it looks a damn sight worse than WoW did, and there's stuttering and crap when travelling, textures loading...etc

Anyway one thing that annoys me with most MMO's, why do they ALL have crap interfaces? Except WoW, which has basically a perfect interface. Every other MMO looks like it has an interface from a game developed in 1990, it's just looks old, it's difficult to use, it has poor functionality, just overall it's crap and outdated. Why can't developers make decent interfaces for god sake?

Sorry mate, but rose tinted glasses again. A LOT of the features of the interface have been tweaked for WoW over the years, and a lot of things 'borrowed' (read:stolen) from the more successful mods ;)

Even simple stuff like the chat interface, for example pressing R to instant whisper reply was added later on, things were made easier to read etc etc

i think its time you all just put that kittenscak on ignore , the whole WoWarkids thing is just really boring....

people just have to accept that MMo's are never released bug free due to the complexities , heck even the greatest of MMo's had problems 'Star War Galaxies' but it didnt stop people enjoying the game.

i will say that during my game time ive found it more a 'solo' rpg than 'MMo' but im hoping that will change

I guess i'll have to keep reposting this /camp works for logging out. I must say the game exit in vista64 problem happens for me but i think only if i choose exit now option rather than waiting the 30 seconds.

Again, thanks for posting, but info like this should really be in the manual.

I know I've moaned about armour visuals, but I'm also confused over armour level. Another direct comparisson to WoW, but each piece of armour in WoW has an armour value and a set of associated bonuses (stats), in AoC it just seems to be the armour type (cloth, light, medium etc), the level and the stats. How do i know whether the level 14 piece of standard light armour that I'm running around in is better that the level 16 green piece of cloth armour that has just dropped from a mob?

I do feel the lauch has been very smooth, not once have I been in a server queue and I haven't had a single crash of the game other than when trying to use the standard exit buttons.

I'll give it the benefit of the doubt over the next 30 days and see how the patches improve the game.

you can check the stats of the armour. some of it has defence rating of 1.3% but other bonuses along with it, like additional 45.5 more health or 1% slashing protection or something like that. a higher level white piece may be worse (as in less additional bonuses) but have more defence protection than the green bit 5 lvls below you. then it's up to you to decide if you want more defence or the additional bonuses.
