AI War: Fleet Command

Just bought this on a whim, I'll fire off a few opinions later :D

Edit: Hmm, its asking for a license key. Is that supposed to get e-mailed to me?

Thanks for your support! Hope you love it.

Yes, that would be in your purchase email from wherever you bought it from -- the demo and the full version are the same executable, the full version is unlocked from the key. I don't know where you bought it from, but you should have an email with instructions and a key from any of the three places. In the Impulse client, you can also right-click the game and hit View Registration to see your key.

It's sweet, I just got Stardock to e-mail me all the keys on that e-mail address, and it was in amongst them.

Is there any way, say when you're using that bar at the bottom, to select an engineer for example, to select all the engineers listed rather than one at a time?

Great!

The toolbar at the bottom is for listing and individually-selecting engineers (or whatever) from any planet. You can't normally select ships on multiple planets at once, so that's not possible with that particular control.

However, two ways you can accomplish this:
1. If all the engineers you want to select are on the current planet, you can just left-click the engineer icon on the planetary summary palette on the right-hand sidebar.

2. If your engineers are all over, and you want to send them all somewhere, then switch to the Galaxy Map and click the Find button on the left. Then just select Engineers, and which type of engineer you want to move (Mark I, II, III, Mine Layers, Mobile Builders, etc). Once you have selected them, you'll see a flashing green number at each planet that has one of them there. Click any of the ones you don't want to "select," thus turning the count red, and then right-click the destination planet to route all of the green ones there.

Easy way to group a bunch of ships of any sort on a single planet, although in practice you probably won't need to do that a whole lot -- usually #1 is sufficient, but it's helpful to have both I think.

Hope that helps!

For those that haven't yet got the game and are intending to I hear that Gamersgate will be selling the game in there weekend sale with a 30% discount :)

i've a suggestion, placing mines is really clunky and time consuming, is there any way you can make it so that instead of placing one at a time you can either

stamp down a minefield maybe a circle with a certain number of mines (say 30) or

that when you select a mine you then draw a variable sized circle on the map which depending on the size you make it will vary the number of mines inside

if i think of any more i'll make a mention :)

That's too cheap!

lol yeah it's outrageously cheap. The coop game I was playing we just got totally pwned, partly because the economy changes quite a lot in the beta and we decided to go beta - that was a good call because lots of nice stuff and the economy works but just caught us on the hop and partly because we didn't get scouts around and by the time we thought about it it was too late (with our Noobiness). I started a new SP game this morning and it's all so much clearer - just loving this game, coop really is very worth while trying, myself and a friend play quite late but if anyone wanted to join in our next starting tonight they'd be very welcome. Game will play 10pm- 11.30/midnight on weekdays - should finish after a week if we get our games in :)
