Air conditioning units?!

That is the main reason why my room gets hot. It's a toss up between death by heat or death my moth. I plan to put some sort of fine netting over my window this year to allow decent air flow while blocking invading insects.

I don't like things getting in either so i try to make a good seal around it with netting.

i got one last year and it beats any fan, fans just blow the same hot air around the room,

Air con units, extract the hot air and blow in nice cool air and cool the air nicely.

(The extractor part is the loudest but auto switches on/off depending on the temp etc)

They do collect water in the water tank which you sould epmty so often (something to do with the way the extract the air as they remove and condensation which gets collected in the water tank).

For mine i just got some flexi hose and put it throught the top window which is open slightly but close so that it holds the hose inplace if you know what i mean.

They fire out dry air so you need to drink a lot aswell.

I saw some net stuff that stops pollen getting in too but have no idea where to get it from.

Just a plastic attachment like a squashed pipe so that it fits out the window easier and you don't have to have it quite so open, i think its actually better to have windows closed when its used to keep the cool air in.

God its a little heat theres no need to rush out and buy an air con unit. What is it with people in the UK, we get a few days of sun and people are rushing out to get air con. It will soon be raining again so save your money man.

Nope, the flexi air duct hoses streatch to quite abit (its more try to compress it as its springs back out) - the one i have is a longer one than needed but i didnt cut it as it allows me to move it about more - instead the area where it connects to the unit i just put some rubberbands around it to stop it sprining back out.

Plus once its put through the window and the window is closed aginst it - it holds it inplace

Another good thing about that Homebase air con unit is it has the 'A' power rating grade on the chart for most efficient.

I bought a new one - mainly because the one that comes with them is quite short - the onje i got is a fleix type so easly to stretch/bend etc.

Ducting hose stretches quite abit (depending on the size - the diamiter of it is the problem as most places do the sizes for tumble dryers but you can get adapter rings to fit the smaller size to it).
