Airfix

The engine detail is amazing. My favourite part on the modern models is where people break out the carbon fibre decals.

Not really sure, say £100 max?

Your builds are awesome btw

The bay is best for value.

I've had one of these compressors for a few years now and never let me down. This one comes with 3 airbrushes. They are probably pretty rubbish for long term usage. I only use harder and steenbeck airbrushes now i know what I'm doing.

gotta start somewhere.

Cat broke one of the wing tips off my eurofighter :( so checking with airfix if they can send out a spare.

Not ready to step up and spend money on an airbrush kit yet and wondering if anyone has tips on how i can paint it with a brush and not look rubbish as mine does at the moment.

If using a hairy stick, use thin paint and several thin layers and build it up slowly.

Some people do an amazing job without an airbrush but use this method.

Okay, thanks for the advice. I'll save some Christmas cash and get one ordered :)

I had a very similar compressor to those, (AS 186 with twin airbrushes). One tip is to make sure you open the drain plug at the bottom of the tank after use, to let the condensate drain out. If you don't you can end up rusting the inside of the airtank, which is what happened to mine. I now have a nice Sparmax TC610H :)

I can guarantee that bandai are all new kits and not associated with fine molds in any way.

I've looked at the MF 1/144 and apart from the dish it's identical to the Fine Molds 1/144 MF.

In fact the dish is a dead giveaway because the dish looks significantly less detailed and less crisp compared to the rest of the model

Both are completely different high quality moldings of the same subject and scale.

Bandai is engineered as a snap-fix type kit do no glue required. Fine molds is a traditional assembly kit.

I stand absolutely corrected, i've been out of the game for 3 years and a lot has changed in the Star Wars front, i didn't even realise that FineMolds lost the SW licence and Bandi won it (for inside Japan only)

I'll mirror plasmahal's suggestion, I've still got my cheapo chinese £60 now, while they aren't good for fine use, with a bit of practice they are great.

When you get one, I'd seriously suggest spending a few hours just practicing on paper, watching how the paint flows when you apply different pressures and distances.

I learnt loads that way, my first model was a 1:24 Bf 109E and I sprayed it at 50psi and full air/paint allowance as I didn't read any forums or watch any youtube at the time :D it actually looked remarkable considering!
