Not sure I agree there, if you actually look at the stuff he reviews, for the most part they are genuinely good products. The issue is that most mainstream stuff released these days from established manufacturers is a genuinely good product.

Most genuinely good products have a few minor negatives or flaws which are generally not that important or don’t materially detract from the rest of the experience. Genuinely good products deserve a positive review. The bad products he does a video on get a negative.

Back to the AirPods max, there is only 1 genuine issue with the actual product. That is the utterly rubbish case which he called out multiple times in the video. I believe he actually used the word ‘stupid’ to describe it. He also clearly called out the price (which clearly isn’t an issue for some people given they are sold out). I believe he also mentioned their competitors.

What in his review did you think was an issue?

Even iJustine was was negative on the case (for her...) and she is in love with anything Apple makes and hyper positive about pretty much anything she makes an unboxing on. Let’s be clear, her videos are not reviews for the most part. Generally they don’t tend to have any critique and just tend to run through of the product and it’s features a.k.a marketing points.
Like I said he does call some things out but he always puts it in a sandwich so it’s easy to stomach and always encourages you to believe they’re worth the buy.

His video on the portless iPhone is annoying - it’s like he’s trying to justify it on apple’s behalf to soften the blow when it arrives. A portless iPhone is a monumentally stupid idea and he should be calling them out on it not trying to make it sound like a good idea.

I guess part of it is to keep the review items coming from companies but also to keep apple lovers on board. I used to rate his reviews but I can’t stomach his videos anymore.

I think the point being missed is that these reviewers are really 'nobody's.

I Think fussing so much over a case is missing the point, surely its got to be audio quality, comfort etc in an order of preference. It also needs to be pitted against near competitors.

No, it should look at the entire package. Audio is only one part of the product, sure its a big part but its only one part. If they sounded better than £3,000 headphones but fell apart in 5 minutes or has one hour battery life they would still be a terrible product. The issue is that they do actually sound as good as you can get over Bluetooth at the moment which leaves pretty much everything else to differentiate it from the competition. Price is a huge issue for most people (me included), that doesn't make it a bad product, on the other hand that stupid case could well make it a bad product.

Name one product he has said is good but actually isn't or those 'sandwiched' issues are actually deal breakers?

Please explain why it's a 'monumentally stupid idea'. It's almost certainly something which they have focussed grouped the hell out of alongside their analytics data. I'm fairly sure both of those things will say the absolute vast majority of people do not plug anything into their phone other than a charger.

The only thing it does break from the consumers point of view is car play, that is a problem but it could be fixed with a (no doubt very expensive) dongle. It will make repair diagnostics for apple more difficult. A part from some edge cases which to be frank Apple doesn't care about, pretty much everything else can be done over a wireless protocol.

Don’t say this-you’ll be called an Apple Sheep/shill.

Heck no. From the few hands on videos I've seen, my Sony XM3 is still superior at less than half the price.

I hope for Apple's sake that like Airpods, this is just the begining and they'll make improvements in the next generation. I'll consider the headphones when 1) They have a 50% bigger battery 2) have best in class noise cancellation and 3) sound quality at least as good as the XM4 with good bass

The people that want them to be t3h b3st 3v3r will find things to back up their belief. The people that desperately want them to suck because they have Apple Derangement Syndrome will look for things that confirm that as well.

I had ADS when I was younger. Then I got a 3GS and got over it.

You don't really know what you're talking about. When you charge more than double the price of your competitor, you need to at least beat them in something. Imaging trying to sell a car at Ferrari price when its slower than a Toyota

Btw I think the Sony's aren't much better than Beats for SQ - they make pop/electronic sound fun because of the bass boost but anything like classic rock or intricate music they just turn into a flabby mass, all muddy and recessed. Wouldn't buy even with the heavy discounts you can now get. Of

Funny you mention the ANC, it's one of the few things these seem to really be top of the pile for.

(at least according to my goto audio reviewer DMS https://youtu.be/jHIJL0M8Pqg)

ANC and sound quality are both pretty much as good if not better than the current crop of wireless ANC headphones (Sony, bose etc..)

Its the price and other smaller things that let it down, in my opinion anyway.

Personally I like to see multiple reviews because most reviews are just personal opinion and not scientific, also for ANC I only care about how much office sound it can block out, don't care about planes busses etc and not everyone tests office noise.

the other major issue with these Apple headphones is weight - it's double the weight of other high end ANC wireless headsets and when you're wearing them for 6+ hours a day in the office ergonomics like weight matter

I’ve seen a couple of reviews (can’t remember who) mention this, they each said that the design of the head band is so that the actual weight is lifted away from your head. Of course, gravity still exists so you’ll still know they’re there but you don’t get hard metal pressing down. If adjusted correctly, the ear pieces and the mesh hold them in place, not the weight.

When you compete at that price range its going to draw full investigations into the product. However I think it best to ignore the normal 'apple sheep' reviewers and explore deeper reviews.

There is never going to be a concensus on something as subjective as audio. I have heard some reviewers who are audio engineers say that the quality of these is amazing and par for the price, others have said its good but nothing special. Some people have said the ANC is on a par with the Sonys and others have claimed its far better. There really isn't much point arguing about something that is so personal.

Decided to try a pair out....been watching and listening to reviews out of my ears (lol) and thought between these and the 700, xm4s let’s just try them and decide which to keep.
Ordered space grey 10.30pm last night and it’s on route today delivery (dpd).. that’s impressive.

From Apple or a third party? They're showing February for delivery.

I was worried about this too but after 5 days of use including all day working days I haven't had any issues at all. The headband is very well designed.
