Like I said he does call some things out but he always puts it in a sandwich so it’s easy to stomach and always encourages you to believe they’re worth the buy.Not sure I agree there, if you actually look at the stuff he reviews, for the most part they are genuinely good products. The issue is that most mainstream stuff released these days from established manufacturers is a genuinely good product.
Most genuinely good products have a few minor negatives or flaws which are generally not that important or don’t materially detract from the rest of the experience. Genuinely good products deserve a positive review. The bad products he does a video on get a negative.
Back to the AirPods max, there is only 1 genuine issue with the actual product. That is the utterly rubbish case which he called out multiple times in the video. I believe he actually used the word ‘stupid’ to describe it. He also clearly called out the price (which clearly isn’t an issue for some people given they are sold out). I believe he also mentioned their competitors.
What in his review did you think was an issue?
Even iJustine was was negative on the case (for her...) and she is in love with anything Apple makes and hyper positive about pretty much anything she makes an unboxing on. Let’s be clear, her videos are not reviews for the most part. Generally they don’t tend to have any critique and just tend to run through of the product and it’s features a.k.a marketing points.
His video on the portless iPhone is annoying - it’s like he’s trying to justify it on apple’s behalf to soften the blow when it arrives. A portless iPhone is a monumentally stupid idea and he should be calling them out on it not trying to make it sound like a good idea.
I guess part of it is to keep the review items coming from companies but also to keep apple lovers on board. I used to rate his reviews but I can’t stomach his videos anymore.
