Airsoft.

Thats not true, after UKARA just wiped a lot of peoples membership because of a misunderstanding with a retailer and a site, a lot of airsofters wont touch the scheme.

Plus, you don't need to be a member of UKARA, all you need is a to be a member of a site that has insurance. I'm a member of SYA, there are currently 5 large retailers that will sell me RIFS. And other members have been able to buy from other retailers with the membership.

That affected me, assuming you're refering to Land Warrior. Bit of a pain in the arse, since my local site says you need to go 6 times rather than the usual 3 before they'll accept you as a member. And since they only run games once a month that means I have to wait 6 months before I can buy any new guns. It's doubly as annoying because I don't like playing there anymore, as it's way too crowded.

Can't you get the owner of the site to confirm to the shop that you do skirmish there? That would work in theory.

I think the problem is (as I failed to get across properly in my original post) that you can't just 'go and get an airsoft weapon' even if you play regularly, as there's no consistency between retailers, sites and companies running airsoft events. There should be a national scheme with set credentials for proving you are a 'regular airsofter' and all retailers and sites should sign up to it.

At the moment, there's no point having lose 'legislation' - that's as bad as none IMO.

Cba to find mine, but my collection > ned's collection and his bloody flashbang throwing arm.

Still bitter eh. You managed to move out the way before it went off so where's the problem? If anything you should be grateful that I threw it straight away and didn't leave it for a couple of seconds, meaning that it would have gone of pretty much as it hit you...

I'm interested in airsoft but with these recent changes in the law it seems like a right pain in the a** to become a member to allow me to purchase some airsoft guns.

Are imported RIF's still subject to the new law, if so how are these regulated as the sales dont require any membership numbers from places like Japan / China via web purchases as far as have seen, also prices appear to be more competetive without import duty of course.

Prices are better but you will have to pay high shipping and will most likely get stung by customs too, you need to be a Skirmisher to import so you need to attend at least 1 game before you can order from abroad, same goes for over here but most retailers require you to be registered.

Guess I need to get to a venue in the new year and have a few games, couple of my mates are interested also, I was going to do this a few years ago but others things came up....would have been simpler back then so to speak.

Anyone know any decent sites around the Midlands area at all or can recommend anywhere that is ideal for beginners with a good woodland scenario.

Cheers

Here you go, perfect kit for a starter / first timer. This way your not spending a fortune, getting good kit and if you find you dont like it as much as you thought you would, your not killing the bank.

Tokyo Marui Tactical Master - £89.99
ICS M4 Carbine (Full Metal Weapon, Pre-Upgraded) - £209.99
Tokyo Marui M16 & M4 Series (Standard, 60rds) - £16.99

Heres my couple, bit of an HK whore:

I'm currently debating whether to sell up or start skirmishing. I bought them before the ban came in and i'm not sure of the legalities of owning them now.

I just simply am not using them, they've probably shot less than 300-400 BB's between them.

A question: Even without affiliation, can I turn up to a local site and use my gun?

And another: Am I technically illegal as I do not have UKARA affiliation? Or is it just the purchase of them which is illegal?
