Airsoft ??

ohh awesome, cheers for the link... The Asylum is just down the road from where my parents live, in Walsall at the moment, so still not that far to drive!

Is it an easy thing to get into?
what sort of buddget would be needed for equipment?

It's very easy to get into, and you spend whatever you want to spend.

I have spent a lot of money for my main ACU loudout which you can see on previous pages but you can also quite easily go to an army surplus store and pick up some British DPM for less than £40.

Then guns range from as little as £50 to £2000 depending on which style and make you want. You will need to be able to proove that you are a skirmisher to buy non two tone weapons which was brought in via the VCR act a few years ago.

I know of one site near me(sheffield) that did a resident evil night at halloween. They had people dressed up as zombies. You could only use handguns or shotguns.

Thats south yorkshire airsoft at camp proteus. Those guys knew how to run a site .

Ok, back from my parents & I did manage to dig my p90 out (sry for the poor image, i still hvnt invested in a decent camera)

Edit: Has anyone been to any of the first & only sites?

The Mall:

The Asylum:

The Tunnels:

There are a few others but these sound great fun :D
I'm an FaO member.. I mainly go to the Manchester woods and the Drakelow Tunnels. Haven't been in over a month though because I managed to get ill then it was Christmas etc. Going to start going again in a week or so!

I love the tunnels.. So much fun there, a lot of it is pitch black but there are loads of side tunnels, offices, all sorts! Really can't wait to go again! I usually find the FaO sites are well marshalled, they're fair but know what they are doing to make the games good.

Not been to Drakelow tunnels yet as when I was going to go it was snowed off!

Aod, The Asylum is where you want to be!
You need to get to the tunnels! :p

I really want to get down to The Asylum and should be going to the Manchester Killhouse next month.. Just need to put my MP5 back together after getting my mosfet fixed..

awesome, i shall have a look into this then, and possibly pester you some more at some point for opinions and advice if thats ok! :)

time to spend the rest of my work time looking at gear :o
damn you ocuk and your threads making me want to spend money! hehe

I find Flecktarn and Firesupport are good places to get kit from! :)

Flecktarn is just round the corner from me. Bought my first gear from them, ACU... got shot of it pretty quick as it makes you a laughing stock at a woodland site :p (looks much better indoors skully). When i got my stuff they had a lot more in the warehouse than online so might be worth giving them a call.

If you are looking at gear to buy there's tons and tons of places. The problem will be you buy things then realise you don't need it and you have to sell it on :P. Viper stuff is cheap, easy to get hold of but generally ****e. Bulle is quite good, well worth the money and fairly hard wearing. Warrior, blackhawk and other real steel manufacturers have awesome kit but slightly expensive. I get all my warrior webbing from uktactical.co.uk. After that it's just geardo territory with Eagle and Paraclete stuff and real ballistic plates. You can get all sorts of accessories and gear from ACM (all china made) places some is ok, some is pants. Some of the chinese made guns are cheap yet very good, i you can find them as exporting from China has slowed right down, it's illegal to make them there.

As said above to buy RIFs (REAL Imitation Firearms) you must be over 18 and have a defence to the VCR act. This generally comes in the form of site membership or acceptance onto the UKARA database. Both of these usually require you to skirmish 3 times in a period NO LESS than 2 months iirc. To buy IF (Imitation firearms) you must be 18 years or older and the gun must be 51% of an obnoxiously flourescent colour (green, blue orange). Some sites offer junior memberships, but you still can't buy a gun until over 18.

Pyro is subject to fireworks laws and as such cannot be sold to under 18s.

For those looking to try it out almost all sites offer rental packages of overalls, gun, ammo and mask. That's enough for anybody to get started and get a feel for the game.

I ended up getting issued stuff off Ebay.. Got my boots, trousers, tac vest and camelbak etc all issue but new for really cheap. Its decent stuff and none of it has broken with the abuse I've given it! :)

I'm not a massive fan of E-bay but yeah if you can get real deal stuff on there for cheap then happy days, it will last for ages. The only thing i'd be skeptical about is boots. I prefer to buy new and then wear them in myself. Boots are some of the most important gear (after eye protection). You spend 8 hours plus in them and need good ankle and foot support constantly.

The boots I got were new.. Still had the tags on, they are goretex lined high leg Pro Boots. Had tried a pair of elsewhere so knew what they were like but got them on the bay at a fraction of the cost! :)
They're probably the most comfortable pair of shoes I wear, just a pain to drive in because of the leg else I'd wear them more often!

RAP4... They make paintball guns based on todays weapons. The assault rifles are magazine fed so no hopper, the air tank is hidden in the stock of the rifle. So what you see is what you would expect from any standard weapon. The weight maybe slightly heavy but its good enough. Google Rap4 to see what i am talking about. The US army use these for training and other military groups and police forces, even seen them on documentaries.

I've got some Magnum spider elites. Wear them everywhere. Their waterproofing isn't that good though, not like Goretex ones. There are definatly some bargains to be had though.

I've got 5.11 boots, don't have the name to hand. Very comfortable and doubled up as snow boots the last few weeks!

I went out with some uni friends today and really enjoyed it and i am looking to get my own setup and be a sniper the gun i am interested in is this:

A&K Dragunov SVD airsoft sniper rifle "2 Tone"

i can pick it up for £109 for the rigle only with magazine and 2K rounds but i was curious is this the best sniper in its price range and what scope should i be looking at getting, i will need mountin brackets too.

 1. it's "Sniper Rifle" not Sniper.
 2. no, it's not "the best". the "best" airsoft sniper rifle would probably be a TM VSR with about £600 worth of mods to enhance power to a consistent level, enhance accuracy etc...
 3. i strongly recommend you don't go for a "sniper rifle" as your first gun. for for a compact assault rifle first, and then decide what sort of play style you default to, which will provide the basis of your weapon.
 4. And Don't get a Two-Tone - you'll look like a chump who couldn't wait until he was UKARA registered before buying.

This man speaks sense... Get yourself an M4 or the likes. Sniping can be pretty dull and a lot of hard work for not a lot of obvious fun.

@ AOD was asking if it was the best sniper in its price range £100 range not £600

I am more tempted to go for the JG Steyr Aug AEG as more and more people are saying snipers are bad as a first gun but people are bringing up the issue that you can't just freely go into allmost derelict woodlands due to people being against it :(

its putting me off a little now

No mate, you've gotta go to an authorised skirmish site, realistically. Once you start going, though, its very addictive. I went from borrowing one gun from a friend to owning an m14, an m4, two beretta's, two glocks, a p90 and two shotguns in a matter of months.

Have a read of this mate, it might explain a few things clicky

i know, i was letting you know how much you'd need to spend (it's closer to £800...) to snipe in the same league as established and dedicated snipers.

Good Choice - the JG AUG are very nice AEGs for the money, and those people are right.

but people are bringing up the issue that you can't just freely go into allmost derelict woodlands due to people being against it :(

please for the love of ****ing God don't do this! it's HIGHLY illegal - it counts as ARMED TRESSPASS and you could serve up to 20 years for it.
also, it would jeaopardize the already fragile situation of airsoft in the UK. all it'd take is one idiot jogger/hiker/moron to get blinded by straying into an impromptu, illegal, unregistered airsoft site and the game is banned in the UK forever.
