Airsoft ??

If renting an AEG (and if possible) avoid the famas - the safety is in an annoying position.

Keep your head down :P

Thats it really... 99% of the players I've run into have been friendly and helpful to new people - the rest only comes with experience.

Oh and do call hits :D

My first time airsofting tomorrow, bit nervous.

Any tips? :)

best advice i can give you is: don't be afraid to get shot. always try and be right up at the head of the battle. going into CQB? get stuck in there, be at the front. playing at range? sneak up on the enemy and lace 'em from 15 yards.

Getting shot hurts, but if you take the ******** out in the process, the pain doesn't even come close to the satisfaction.

and if you happen to kill that bugger who's been holding your whole team up for ten minutes? even better :D

furthermore, if you do get serious holes from the BBs, parade 'em around.
everyone will congratulate you and pat you on the back for a job well done :D

my tip is, keep your mouth closed and try not to get shot in the teeth.

You'll know why if it happens.

yes i am talking from experience :) if they offer you full face protection, use it.

If i'm not offered full face protection, I won't be happy.

As a test I asked a mate to shoot me with his P90. He got me with three shots - two on the lower back and one right on the armpit.

I can't repeat what I said when it caught me there. :|

When i was a kid i had a gun that fired plastic balls.

I've just watched 12 grown men with replica assault rifles shoot 250 plastic balls at each other. Are they gay

How is this better than paint ball:confused:

With paintball it's clearly a game. Airsofting seems to be where everything is made as realistic as possible, this leads me to believe that most are either failed military types, nerds who play too much CSS or ex servicemen that like to do it. I had a mate that was really into his Airsofting, weirdo as well.

Not pleasant is it! My mate shot me from about 10ft away with his sniper rifle while I was trying to sleep, and that was horribly painful :(

Couple of places I go semi-regularly are run by a small number of ex-servicemen which actually works kinda well - I've not run into many failed military types I don't think its their thing - prolly the TA or something for them. Quite a lot of CSS/COD nerds tho heh.

Most sniper rifles are running well over the normal fps limit - with the caveat that your not supposed to engage inside 40 feet (or meters can't remember which)... deff. not supposed to be shot at 10feet lol.

eh, it's not that bad, i've shot myself in the palm at point-blank quite a few times and yes, it's painful but it's not agonising :p

Well it went quite well I think.

Good points: Damn good fun, shot a fair few people, had a good laugh. Would go again.

Bad Points: People not taking their hits, slipping over in the mud, rental gun was so inaccurate it was a joke, and the face protection just steamed up on the inside so bad that eventually I couldn't see a thing.

I'm damn sore today though, can barely walk. :/

Glad you enjoyed it :) The mud you can't really do much about, just watch your footing and get some decent boots. The rest (hit taking, rental guns) is down to the individual site, both mine went down the other week and i had to use a hire gun... contemplated throwing the rounds at people instead.

Steaming is a major issue for everyone, you can buy de-mister, use wire mesh masks or my favourite is get some mesh goggles, i use them and they are probably the 1 bit of kit i can't do without on a a skirmish. Yank for seal team 6 airsoft team makes em, or a guy over here called heroshark does, not tried his but by all accounts they are awesome.

Well the rental site offers MP5s, AK47s, and two types of G36 - the C and the K.

I was running late so had to be content with a G36C as there were no others left, but from talking to others the AKs and MP5s go first as they're the newest and tend to be the best guns.

I'm going to book next time to have one of them though.

I would love to have a go at getting into this. :D

Anyone local to Warwickshire offer any good advice? Or anyone willing to take a n00b under their wing for a game or two one weekend. :)

What sites should I visit to get a feel for this and costs involved for my on guns/equipment should I like it?

Skully, those indoor photos look awesome!

Steaming depends on the goggles you use.
Rental masks are notorious for steaming up as they are not treated well by rental players, usually scratching off the anti-fog coating.
You can get stuff like Cat Crap (it really is called that) and Fogtech to help combat it.

Good boots is ESSENTIAL to airsoft, they have saved my ankles many a time as Im a clumsy oaf.

Rental guns do tend to be abit 'meh' at best.
Make a few friends and most are willing to lend you their spare AEG which will of been better looked after

As for people not taking their hits, welcome to airsoft.
Sadly there is allways people who wont take their hits, either do to being cheating ***** or they honestly didnt feel/hear it.
You have to give the benefit of the doubt at longer range as if you can track a 6mm BB that far away you must have supermans eyes.

Visit that, pretty up to date and you can find your nearest site. Prices vary but are similar in areas due to being competitively priced. You are about an hour and 10 mins from my local site, i'm sure there is a closer one.

For costs:

http://www.fire-support.co.uk/
http://www.landwarriorairsoft.com/
http://www.flecktarn.co.uk/

And the forums for anything else/2H bargains:

http://www.zeroin.co.uk

You will need to be aware of and understand the VCRA (well, the bit pertaining to airsoft), and how to be exempt from it.

Most importantly of all, it isn't CoD :P
