Akasa Eclipse 62's Club... Desktop & Machines.

Cheers, Vista 64 decided it didn't want to install to my brand new 320gb F1 . Must be a dodgy drive as it installed to the 640gb F1 i got for data storage.

Just means I'll have to reinstall windows when i buy a new system drive. Thinking of getting a 150gb Velociraptor as there weren't any in stock when i ordered.

Getting really good temps @ stock. 35oc idle/ 49oc after 3 hours full load on the cpu. This is with an Akasa Amber @5v.

One of the many reasons i love this case :D.

Couple of pics of my eclipse with new cooling setup.

TRUE120 with 2 arctic fans. sorry for pic quality (taken with phone cam)

That case looks like it would cool better than my P182, inside makes it tempting to change to that but I cant get over how ugly the front of the case look!!!! :(

Which the omega?.....I love it :D but it does have a certain 80's look to it. If you dont like the look then aviod tbh. Cooling is great but if your going be looking at the front hating then aviod!

Hi M8, got another Akasa Eclipse build at the weekend :D going for the Eclipse over the Omega as I am not too keen with doors on cases (Still a cool looking case mind) nice to see Akasa have kept the chassis design the same for all three models though... the front of the Eclipse has seen mixed comments on the bezel, and to be completely honest every case I have seen has some flaw in design and presentation, but again its down to personal taste. Look forward to your pics, good luck with your build M8.... :)

I am not too keen with doors on cases

I'd normally agree completely.

But IMO it's different with the Omega (and Mirage for that matter) as the power and reset buttons are accessable with the door both open and closed.

That's my only gripe with doored cases, the fact you have to open it to turn it on.

As stated its just down to personal taste, all the Eclipse range..Omega/Mirages are excellent cases.. the only real drawback with the design of all of them, Eclipse included, is when you are cleaning the front filter, both the case side panels have to come off before you can release the front bezel to get to the filter guard/filter foam to clean, with the doored design I found with the Mirage the front bezel can't be released completely as the MB wires are attached to the door panel, where the Eclipse the bezel can be removed completely (I don't know if this is the same on the Omega as I haven't owned one yet) on the maint side I just find the Eclipse more user friendly....:)

That's fair enough, I wasn't argueing with your opinion, just thought I'd offer mine. :)

The Omega is on the list of possibles for my next case, aswell as about 3 others lol.

I've also never been keen of fans on side panels due to vibration resonance but if I was to get one I have a plan which should remove that posibility (think paxmate but a lot more OTT :D).

All in all, it's a VERY nice case. In my heart it would be a choice between the Omega and a Hiper Osiris. Very hard to choose though. :(

The thing i like the most about the eclipse is the slide out mobo tray. Made the installation of my cpu cooler so much easier. I still had to remove the board to fit the backplate and bolt the cooler into place but once that was sorted, screwed the board back onto the mounts, slid into place and connected the cables and back up and running in no time.

The Hiper Osiris looks very nice.. do they do a windowed or solid side panel for this case, I have found mesh panels do attract a lot of dust... the Omega would have the edge on a purchase between these good cases.. ;)

The side panel is mesh with an acrylic window behind it, so you get the look but without the duct collecting drawback. Also better for stopping EMI compared to normal windows.

In terms of features (removeable m/b tray, e-atx support etc) the Omega would clinch it, but it's also more than £40 over the Osiris so it's proving a difficult choice.

By the look of this it could be a flip of a coin decision...:D

So how come your doing another eclipse build BFG? cant wait for the pics.

Really glad I ordered another omega...there was i time when I was going to get something else but love the internals. I was going to go for the eclipse this time round but I wanted the top vent for a hard drive cooling set up. TBH I like all the akasa cases on looks.

I'll probably just leave the side vent as is as its not very big and the mesh is pretty fine so dust wont be a concern. I'm also going to balance the air intakes and exhaust so its getting more filtered air than its exhausting.

I cant speak for the other case your looking at but I can say that the omega knocks the socks off anything else I've seen in person in that price range. The quality of the front door on the omega is fantastic and the vents are superb weather you use them or not. If you've never owned the eclipse/mirage/omega chassis then you have to go for it!! look how big this thread is, that tells you something of the goodness.

I'd agree with that, you can even install a TRUE cooler and then slide the tray in.
