Alcohol and ability to consent

As I posted a little while ago, ain't someone's fault if they get burgled but I bet cheesyboy still locks his doors and windows.

Bet he doesn't walk down the middle of a road in peak traffic.

Wouldn't walk into a group of black men and make whip cracking noises.

Would wear a hard hat on a building site.

Everyone should be responsible for maximising their own safety and minimising risks.

This is what I was trying to say but failing, thank you for putting it much more eloquently than I! :)

The lesson here guys, if you're out on the prowl for drunken harlets (god, I miss that), use protection:

*fake name
*detailed legend
*brief wingmen on the game plan

Loose lips sink ships

I have no sympathy for men who get accused of having sex with drunk. You should know that you are taking a huge risk and as suck deal with the responsibility. I have never slept with an intoxicated woman because i know what the outcome can be if she cries rape.

You're assuming that the men you refer to are sober themselves and able to think rationally about such risks. The fact in most cases is that the men will be drunk as well and not able to take on board such risks if a girl is showing interest in them.

Seems ridiculous to me.

It's gunna get messy, I've never broken the law in my life, but I have (prescribed) the drugs that will have you unconscious in about 20 minutes.

You can buy them illegally on the net for pennies.

I know damn well that 20 years ago, if they could have got hold of them my friends would be sticking them in my drinks for a laugh. Glad my pub days are over.

You are correct both are probable drunk but the person who will get the sympathy in 99% of cases is the woman.

Its unfair definitely and the best way to avoid that situation is not get involved, it is hard though.

Corrected post for you

Quite - it's not like there aren't enough sober women out there willing to do the deed!

But why is it ok for a woman to have sex with a drunk man?

I never said it was ok but the op was talking about a chage to rape law, and a woman can't rape a man. A woman could sexually assault a man though, and there have been successful prosecutions of women sexually assaulting drunk men.

depends on their level of intoxication really though.

you can be drunk and maybe lose your inhibitions a little which isn't the same as taking advantage of someone who's so drunk they aren't properly in control of their actions.

like someone who can barely stand

What if a man and a wife have a good drink. Eg a couple bottles of wine after dinner.

If a man looks at another woman with lust then some rapey stuff has occurred within his heart. This is truth cause the Bybull says so. All men are rapey perverts.

Women however are never wrong because men are rapey perverts. So when a woman blames a man for buying the wrong sammich, the rapey man did it cause he is rapey and she has the right to take his money and celebrate being a victim. True story.

The only sensible action is to enforce alcohol activated chastity belts!

I'm sorry but this law would just leave it's self open to so much abuse it isn't worth thinking about. I am really glad I got my teens and twenty's out of the way, I have never or know of no one who has ever been involved in a rape claim but I could just imagine the turmoil and impact it would have on a person wrongly accused.

It IS a serious issue that needs to be dealt with properly and effectively but changing the law to make life easier for the police at the expense of a large segment of society is not the way to do it. It strikes me as a lazy way of going about things and very ineffective.
