Alder Lake-S leaks

If you can use DDR4400mhz (cheap now) at 1:1 gear ratio, I'd expect that to perform the best. People are gonna need to wait to see what's possible though, as Intel doesn't seem to want anyone to know in advance about the gear ratios on DDR4/5.

Depends. If you use any upscaling or reconstruction technique DLSS Performance at 4k, the 1080p numbers can be relevant

Yeah will become relevant then to a degree but I'm more interested in the native benchmark performance rather than ones using upscaling but i get your point that it could still be relevant :)

you can bet money they will nearly all be the same

Exactly what i am thinking as 99% of games will be gpu bound at native resolution so will see very little uplift unless playing e-sports title at silly fps but then most will be playing at 1080p not 4k . really looking forward to the benchmarks tomorrow either way :)

I'm using ddr4 3200 myself

Could it also mean that as I have 3600MHz RAM that I could run them at 3200Mhz and lower CAS whilst also putting it into Gear 1 etc? I need to look into all this as none of these gear options are on 6th gen mobos lol as seems it's a recent thing since 11th gen.

Sooo. The memory controller on Alder Lake might be worse than on Comet Lake, even for DDR4? Not cool if it's true.

This is what Intel did with the 11th gen, except the 11900K / 11900 models:

"All other Rocket Lake chips only officially support DDR4-3200 with the 'Gear 2' setting, which allows the memory to operate at twice the frequency of the memory controller (2:1) and results in higher data transfer rates, which can benefit some threaded workloads but also results in higher latency that can lead to reduced performance in some applications."

Hi there

We have now pre-sold over 500 of the new 12th gen CPU's, we shall be shipping or trying to ship all these out on 4th November. Do not worry we still have all lines in stock so anybody ordering a 12th gen from OcUK will get a CPU still, we really have owned the UK market on this launch as we have huge stock piles of 12th gen in our warehouse.

We are now pushing for more DDR5, but alas we also have the largest range of DDR5 in the UK as well with more planned. :)

Thanks for the update. Any box pyramid's planned? :D

Will you be allowing pre-orders for the DDR5 kits? I picked up a cheap 16GB kit so I can boot/play around, though would love to pre-order a 6000Mhz 32GB Gskill, Geil kit etc, knowing it will take a few weeks/months to arrive.

Have you had any luck getting the stand offs for your AIO yet?

Nope. Apparently the Corsair UK Site had them for all of 5 minutes around midnight before they immediately sold out!! Even more annoyingly, I was awake...at my PC...F5'ing the Corsair sites.....I just didn't happen to refresh within that tiny 5 minute window!! Arrgghhhh!!

Corsair really have dropped the ball on this one and the CS reps on their own forums and reddit and their online support have gone into hiding!!

I imagine the game benchmarks are done at 1080p where you will see 10% +/- and as resolution increases gains go down to almost nothing ... any 4K benchmarks ?

Depends, even at 1080P FC6 can make a 3090 Entirely GPU bound, unfortunately this is also how a lot of reviewers like to benchmark CPU performance in games, though it sounds like Custompc Magazine at least know how to properly test the performance of CPU's in games.

Example of a 3090 at 1080P in FC6, 126 FPS Avr, i'm waiting to see Tech spot / Hardware Unboxed benchmark ADL like this and then say "iTS OnlY 2% fASter THan RTL sO itS not rEaLy WoRTH iT"

If the Custompc Magazine (+10 FPS) result was vs my result it would be 149 FPS vs 159 FPS which would be 7%

and if nothing else more power can lead to a much smoother experiance even if frames are the same

Because it looks big, it looks bulky, it looks unwieldy, it looks impractical and difficult to work with.

"Looks" in this instance is not referring to the aesthetics.

Keep in mind that despite being a bloke I have lady sized small hands.

Can't see an issue with most people finding room for one of these. What case doesn't have at least an 1.5 inch behind the motherboard tray for cable management these days?

Intel already had an advantage in FC6, but it's not really the average fps that's interesting in CPU tests. Need to see frametime graphs tbh. The real tests for me are CP2077 & WD:L pushing all the CPU settings & max RT on at 720p or below. :P

Turn Ray Tracing off and settings down, the 11900K would have a bigger lead over the 5950X, you see this is what i'm talking about. (there is still quite a bit GPU limitation here)

Same res they used and With RT off and low settings, i wouldn't be surprised if RTL got about 160 with the same settings as me, which is a wider 7/8% (second Image) margin than the 4% seen ^^^

Yes Far Cry (Duna Engine) has always been Intel heavy, its derived from Cryengine 1 or 2, probably has some old legacy Intel code in it.

The i3 9100 and Ryzen 1600X are looking like bargains.

No worries. Definately the 'safe' option, cheap 16GB kit just to get things running and play with before Christmas etc. I don't expect the good 6200Mhz - 7000Mhz kits to be available in the UK before next year, judging from responses from live chat's I've done with retailers. Not prepared to pay £400 for a basic 4800Mhz/5200Mhz kit.
I paid €369 Euro's for 2x16GB 5200/CL36 Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB from an EU site last Friday and that included Tax which is Irish VAT @ 23%. Have the DDR5 prices shot up so much already in the last week that you are paying £400/€472 and that only includes 20% UK VAT!!

That kind of thing tipped me over the edge from buying my brother a cheaper 12600K and lower end board and DDR4 Ram and me keeping my 'still not finished building' 5900X/RTX3090 based system...over to deciding to give him my 5900X/X570/4x8GB 3600CL18 and instead buying a 12900K/Maximus Hero/2x16GB 5200/CL36 for myself.

Plan to get serious into MSFS2020 in VR with my new PC and also have a Kickstarter Yaw2 Motion Sim Rig coming early next year to use with it. VR Flight Sim guy compared his 10900K/RTX3090 with his GPU in a 5900X system and while the 5900X combo actually achieved a couple of frames more than the 10900K combo, he said the frame timing or somesuch meant that it seemed to look/feel much smoother on the 10900K system than the 5900X system.

Basically I was just looking for excuses! LOL
