Alder Lake-S leaks

Wait till this afternoon then if it's only £50 difference, what motherboard are you thinking about for the 5800x and z690 ? It may come down to which motherboard offers you more.
It's either a b550 tomahawk, or the strix F non WiFi
The board on order for ADL is the gigabyte gaming x ddr4 at £191

That's how I'm feeling at the moment.
Worked out I can get a 5800x and a b550 board for nearly £50 less than a z690 gaming x ddr4 and a 12600kf

Going this route you know there is a ~15% uplift upgrade coming in the form of 3d V-cache CPUs not to long away too, gives you a future drop-in upgrade option. Its why I decided to buy a 5600x about a month ago, I guessed ADL (AL?) system would be faster but also much more expensive, the 5600x already did everything I need and when it starts looking a little slow, I have a raft of drop in upgrades to choose from.

FYi , I've been very impressed with my Gigabyte B550 Aorus Pro-p

This is what I was planning on ordering to continue my Gigabyte ownership streakl but it was listed as out of stock whereas the Asus was listed as pre-order so I thought there was no stock date available for the GB board whereas we may well get the Asus boards for release day however this looks not to be the case lol.

@MartinPrince that’s xmp lol. There’s a reason I keep saying adl is going be a whole diff beast with real mem and proper tuning.

Very nice.

Producivity numbers are huge, really impressive. Sure it uses more power, though it'll complete whichever task it's running faster too, so this needs to be considered.

Example, Blender completing 16% faster on a 12900k vs 5950x, while also being cheaper to purchase.

Also assuming this is bog standard slow 4800Mhz or 5200Mhz memory Linus is using - the 6000Mhz, 7000Mhz RAM results should be further improvements.expensive.

@Dave2150 what made you come up with that ?

linus used 5200 with high latency and didn't try to overclock it

I got mine from the rainforest, says delivery on Tuesday the 9th, I may cancel yet and get a b550 and 5800x and same some penny's

It is personal and that's exactly how it reads. If you question someone's character and motive, that makes it personal.

It's easy to make walls of text attacking someone then say oh its not personal. Anyway, it is what it is and people are like that unfortunately.

I took some advice from other members and just use the ignore feature now when needed.

Well I'm sorry you see it that way, it was unfair testing methodology that was designed to unfairly handicap the competition and in a time when RT is the norm for consoles and GPUs, its been 3 years of RT now and it's not new technology now, the highlighting the facts that you worked/work for AMD had to be made clear to others (a lot of new members that don't know who you are) that don't know that and to also show I am not being biased and have no motives that benefit me personally. It's all about keeping things fair and this is a enthusiast computer forum we want real facts not ones twisted to a certain point of view or hardware/software maker to make their wares look good at known nerfed settings that make the competition look worse under certain conditions.

Don't forget that b660 Intel boards are coming soon you don't have to buy z690 just like you don't have to buy x570

Zen 3d is also coming soon.

Right now even X570 + 32GB 3600C16 + 5800X is considerably cheaper than Z690 + 32GB5200C38 + 12600KF. Gaming wise it is not much different and above 1080p it is no different. Productivity is probably pretty close (although the lack of a 5800X on the LTT review is a real shame).

Once DDR5 is cheaper and B660 is available then a 12400F build is looking pretty impressive in price/perf.

LtMatt works for AMD? That explains a few things!

like why his amd CPU and GPU seems to overclock way better than anyone else's here - Maybe he gets access to them super binned chips lucky bugger

Used to represent AMD back in 2014 on this very forum. No longer do though.

I bought the GPU from OcuK myself and have the invoice to prove it!

Anyway, back on topic not trying to derail this thread.

I just spoke to OcUK on the phone and had my order split so mobo is on its own order. The lowdown is that there is no ETA on mobo deliveries for any model. It could be 2 days, it could be 2 weeks. Bummer!

I even phoned around locally and everyone is in the same boat. The only Z690 in stock was a low-rent looking MSI Z690-A which I'm not interested in lol.

OcUK will now ship my CPU, AIO and other bits today arriving tomorrow and I'll just be hanging around for the mobo.

I may actually end up changing the mobo from the Asus pre-order to the Gigabyte since we're in this position.

OMG..... i ####### knew it, hahahaha....... 20 seconds later he admits that the P cores in ADL are 3X the size of Zen 3 cores, you couldn't ######## make it up, what a complete......

I'm really beginning to hate this guy.
Dude, what exactly are you getting twisted up over? To admit something implies you've concealed or lied about something previously. What exactly has MLID lied about? What is he "making up"?

Having watched the exact same video I literally have no idea what you're talking about.

Good to know thanks, can't make my mind up on boards either, think I'll buy a 12700kf today and AIO and wait for board reviews to check VRM temps and other bit's, plus we can't get DDR5 yet, just hoping the price doesn't go up while we wait.
