Alder Lake-S leaks

not sure what the case is for the 12900, its way too expensive for gaming where the 12600 aces it at perf /£ and for content its power hungry and hot compared to the AMD competition ?

Intel struggle over 8 cores. They simply don’t have a design or the glue to allow for them to scale as AMD can.

Intel definitely back in the game, credit where credit is due - looking at HUB review my 5900x is safe for now

DD5 seems to be waste of money at the minute though.

DDR4 vs DDR5 Alder Lake comparison is where?
Currently DDR4 makes absolute sense.... Half the price and across all my tests DDR5 at 5400mhz with tuned CL only 0.7% faster ........

Did pretty much all workloads to come to this conclusion.

3600C16 means the IMC is one to one with mem speed vs 1/2 divider at anything above..... Latency suffers hard....

I wish all the reviewers didnt publish 1080p reviews, i get that shows the cpu like for like far better but really who is gaming at 1080p these days? Lets see the 1440p and 4k benchmarks!

The hardware unboxed gaming review data has the 12900K +DDR5 6000 much closer in performance to AMD than other reviews I've seen so far. I do wonder if the bug where swapping AMD CPU's without a fresh Windows install hampering performance was captured by other reviewers.

Hardware Unboxed Gaming performance looks like a mixed bag, sometimes the 12900K wins, sometimes the 5950X, but the 12900K does win by bigger margins when it does.

Its not the all out win that i think it needed to be, AMD have a CPU with much better gaming performance right up their sleeves.

It’s clear not to buy DDR5 for gaming right now. Not worth it at all.

so what do you buy if doing complete new build ? buy alder lake with board that uses ddr4 ? but down the line ddr5 prices will drop and get faster and would be stuck on ddr4 board would need to change board ?

That will be Intel telling them to do so, the numbers will barely change between processors at 4K everything will be pretty much the same.

I think if you just benchmarked at 1440p/ 4k there would be no difference between them. I do agree though a mix of resolutions would be good but more work for reviewer.
