Alex Jones..

Last time I checked, these corporations did not control what everybody sees in the whole world. They control what people see on their platforms, and who generates the content on their platforms? Their users.

In practical terms, they collectively have the power to control what people see, more than any other single entity - Facebook alone has a global user count of 2.3Billion, there is nobody else who has as much control over what people consume, in terms of media.

That video you posted is interesting, because it's similar to something I pointed out ages ago, relating to the weird, backward policies of google image search and censorship, essentially - you have people making up rules as to who can see what - according to very strange principles and morals that I don't understand and to me make no sense.

Some things are ok - Alex Jones = BAD, holocaust denial = OK, soft porn = BAD, Islamic terror images = OK... so on.

That's down to US cultural attitudes tbh... footage of people being literally killed can stay up there but boobs are a huge issue... I remember reporting a **** fighting video once, nothing was done about it.

Facebook is similar, women breastfeeding can even risk getting into trouble or posting a pic of their kids in the bath etc.. but violent footage showing people being killed, well they're a bit less worries about that.

Edit FFS, the word for male chicken is censored? It has a legit useage in this context!

But they can only control what's on their platforms.

Facebook alone has a global user count of 2.3Billion, there is nobody else who has as much control over what people consume, in terms of media.

Correction: there is other single company with a larger consumer base. Facebook has no power to control what people consume beyond its own platform. It has no control over any other media.

It proves that the hysterical screams about censorship on YouTube are vastly over-exaggerated.

Are you sure you know how to use Google? This was my very first result:

Gee, looks like soft porn isn't so bad after all. Oh wait: YOU USED SAFE SEARCH, WHICH IS A USER OPTION TO FILTER OUT PORN. So... what was your point again?

So... what was your point again?

I'm pointing out that with google safesearch turned on, you can view pictures, videos, content of islamic terrorism and beheadings - yet it won't return a single image or a single thing to do with anything that might relate to soft porn.

My point being, that the policy which dictates what safesearch deems as 'safe' or not, is totally broken, as Dowie pointed out - it's mostly down to US culture, rather than actual common sense.

Presumably his moronic audience can still navigate to his website and download the "podcasts" manually? It's not like he's been banned from the internet in it's entirety. So it's got absolutely nothing to do with free speech, so that argument can go and do one.

With Trump in office, rumours of Bojo or Rees-Mogg trying to oust May.. it's about time companies stepped up and did something about all this right-wing propaganda that is essentially just lies and trickery. Good on them. #stopfundinghate and all that.

The start of things to come, there will only be one opinion, one view, one version, one thought allowed.

And we are all sleeping walking into it.

Thought this was a thread about that Welsh fitty - but it's about the Yank oddball.

I've only ever seen a few short clips, and he's a very 'energetic' chap - certainly enthusiastic about what he's saying; but I've not really followed him. I have seen a few videos that make reference to what happened, and it does seem a bit odd that he's been canned so quickly, when the likes of Antifa have been left alone - a bit double standards on the face of it for me.

Pro tip:

Big media companies...... if you don't want to add credence to conspiracy theories some of which claim you are all part of some shadowy world order don't all ban the same person at around the same time across a wide range of your platforms which are apparently being controlled by the different companies independently.. ... with some bans being implemented at odd hours (3am local time for the companies involved.)

What's your view Caracus2k - Do you think they are part of some shadowy World order?

Sandyhook.

The biggest muck up he has done, although I heard on the grapevine that the lawsuit against him for it failed and they had to pay infowars legal fees. That was what Watson was saying to Sargon the other day anyway.

I have watched him for the lulz. I rarely take him seriously but the guy has broke some very big stuff that ordinarily should have people questioning things more.

Censorship is not the answer. I'm with "that side" on the agreement that monopolies like FB/Apple/YouTube should not be able to ban content because they disagree with it. Lets not forget it took govt threats to get FB to remove ISIS pages!

He was banned under the Auspice of 'Glorifying violence' I kid you not.

Im sorry, but what the hell is HOLLYWOOD!? They have been glorifying violence for decades.

All they are doing is setting the precedent here. They whip people into a ban Alex Jones frenzy, he gets banned. Nothing gets done. Then onto the next targets who have disagreeable opinions.

I see a whole host of other channels being deleted very soon,

BAN HOLLYWOOD
