Alien: Isolation...

I really can't get into this game. I'm at the first bit where people are trying to kill me and I'm getting bored working out how to get past it.

Not sure you should play this game if your going get bored that easily but here is how I did that bit.

Back at the transit area are two rewire terminals, use the one near that end of the area and switch on the speaker, that drew out 1 or 2 of them at a time and I stood near the second door and as they came through I wacked them to death

Another bit of advice is use the Vents, a lot. I didn't see an Alien in the vent once in the entire game. Though once or twice it did pull me out of one....

I came across it in the vents just once on my play through (on hard). Scared the hell out of me as I had never seen one in their before and I was treating the vents as a 'safe zone'!

Should come with a severe pant warning !!

not just running in a shooting randomly at anything that moves is what makes this a great game. when you see the Alien (or more when it sees you) you know its panic time and your heart just jumps!

combine all that with some seriously sexy graphics and WOW!

needed to be longer but hey, you cant have it all

yea i think thats what sold it to me.At first you think it may be a point and shoot when you get the pistol.

Then BOOM!! run and hide you little girl..gun means zilch

yup and then you realise that while you are aiming and shooting, the Alien is riping you face off!

Just did the sole survivor DLC and the last part of it (from the film where theres steam and smoke filling the ship) was one of the most tense parts I've ever played through in any computer game. The alien was waiting for me in the mist and I had my last 20 fuel in my flamethrower for the shortest burst ever which thankfully managed to scare it whilst I legged it back to my ship. Crazy stuff!

Can't get this working on the rift, doesn't display on the rift, only my monitor. I'm in extended, I did the file edit for "Rift" etc, paused the service and ran it.. :/

I had to set to extended - didn't have to pause service . Had a few issues initially with the file - ended up with the following:

<Setting name="Stereo Mode">
<Quality name="Rift" precedence="4"/>
</Setting>

Would recommend persevering with it for sure!

The Crew Expendable DLC for is much more tense than the main game.

As soon as you go down in to the ship, there's hardly any light. You don't have a torch and have to 'aim' your Flamethrower just to see a few feet in front of you (in a vent for instance) and the play area is that much smaller so if an Alien is in the room with you it's right next to you usually.

Not sure why all the actors are coughing all the time though....anyone else notice that. Lambert is coughing up a lung where you start and Ripley and Parker were coughing on the bridge.

Probably just due to them being strung out and amazingly tired. There's no real sense of time on alien so who knows how long they've been awake for.
