Alien: Isolation...

I have this stupid bug thats doing my head in. At first I thought it was part of the game and you would need to activate power..

When ever I open computer terminal or Rewire system it just shows black screen. It was only till I pressed ESC till I knew it was a bug.

This seems to be a crossfire issue. If I disable Crossfire this stops happening.

Cheers, are you downsampling too?

No mate. Im running at 3440x1440 to start with and using A single card only as crossfire doesn't let you select the TX2 AA option. So As good as this game runs if I downsampled even higher from that res id be under 60fps I would imagine on a single card.

I had that same problem when using the Rift DK2. It only happened on the first terminal on the Sevastopol though. Not the earlier ones on the first ship. I sold my Rift since then though so I don't know if it was a problem with that terminal only.

There are some really good bits where you can pretty much roam an area in safety, but if you do something that will call the alien, he will come to the area and it will completely changed. I was just exploring an area at will, walking around with no problems, then I accidentally set off an alarm and now he is right on my tail and won't leave me alone! It had made the area and objectives a hundred times harder

One thing that is annoying me though- the alien doesn't set off alarms. Also, I don't like the way they just ignore the androids tbh.

in 2 minds whether to get this first or the evil within?

Get Alien, don't buy TEW, it's a poorly optimised port from a noob developer and is in no way scary other than a lame gore fest. Alien has an atmosphere that will scare you ****less, even when you aren't in any immediate danger, the sound design is phenomenal.

THIS IS SUCH A LONG GAME!!

Not in a particularly bad way but as an FPS gamer I'm not used to games of this length. You really do get a treat later on and see the ship, it's absolutely stunning even if that section is slow and K536 is gorgeous too.

I agree The Evil Within is garbage, you don't have to buy Alien, but it's a much better game.

Just completed it and what a truly phenomenal game.

Never have I felt this immersed in a game before, the graphics are excellent, animation of the Xenomorph is incredible and the audio was such a major component keeping me engaged. There are so many exceptional homages to true fans, you can't help but see the effort they went to painstakingly recreate the Aliens universe.

This is easily one of the best games I've ever played in my entire life. Easily. I feel genuinely privileged to have experienced such a fantastic game based in the universe of one of my all time greatest movies.

I mean come on... just look at it. LOOK AT IT!!!

Was playing this last night.....litterally one of the best survival horror games ive ever played...pureley from the pov that I feel scared the whole time im playing....I NEVER feel safe, you can hear the damn thing running about in the vents, cobstantly stalking you, the graphics and sound effects/music is some of the best ive had the pleasure of experiencing.

Im at the Qurantine section in the Medical dept....when that thing comes out the vent and drops down in front of you...wow .

How IGN gave this such a low score....ill never know.

I just read this review of the game and thought I would share it, as it pretty much sums up my opinions on the game perfectly-

It's funny, I just read this one, and it summed up my opinion too...

Even down to the post it notes ha. IMO the game just isn't scary. The first time an apparently dead synthetic grabbed is one of the very few times I actually jumped.

As said in the review, it's more frustrating than anything. The alien is too clever and too dumb at the same time and the way it hunts you is unfair. It's obvious that it is fabricated to always be in the vicinity of the player which, to me, soils the immersion, as Sevastopol is such a vast place. To be fair, I'm struggling to think of a way it could be done more realistically, yet still be interesting. Of course the alien was always close to the characters in Alien as there are far fewer people.

One thing that really impresses me, however small it may seem is that every locker has a unique interior.

It's little attention to detail like this that really shows the dedication towards this game.

Totally agree and with Alien being my all time favourite Sci-fi horror film it's the closest thing to being thrown into the movie itself.

The game is a rare gem amongst a plethora of churn and um-imaginative junk released over the last decade! Not since Deus Ex have I enjoyed a single player game as much.
