Alien: Romulus - Fede Alvarez (Evil Dead) to write/direct

This is certainly a hot-take.

No way this movie deserves a 1/10 score.

Ok call it 2/10 for the decent CGI and the violent bass shaking the cinema when they were in the spacecraft.

What I found poor about the movie:

The acting was poor.
The script was weak.
The plot was predictable and I didn't care about any of the characters.
The black guy who was the Forest Gump android was just laughable.

So yeah, 2 out of 10

The actor who played Andy was by far and away the best thing in it, so that's an even hotter take

I get that some people may not have enjoyed the film, but 2/10 ratings? I mean I've seen some shockingly bad films over the years and even those weren't 2/10, the Sharknado series for example normally end up around 3-4/10.

Some people have VERY high expectations! :D

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but as others have said I think 2/10 is too low but that's my opinion. If we didn't all have varying opinions, from mine, Tarantino wouldn't still be making films ;)

If it wasn't for the Aliens connection and aesthetic as a stand alone movie I wouldn't have rated it very highly. I wouldn't rate it as a 2/10 though it wasn't that garbage despite a predictable, limited, plot and not really going anywhere interesting with it. The acting was at least serviceable with some better efforts from some and there was some neat concepts in there.

What I found more offensive about it was slapping in Alien(s) quotes which belong in a quite specific context and character into the movie.

That said I really hope they go back and develop on it - some things they got really right and some of the concepts were interesting/neat ideas so a lot of potential.

Surprised they didn't use the "how do I get out of this chick poop outfit" or "LET'S ROCK" or "watch those corners" or "game over man" or "17 days? I don't want to rain on your parade pal but we're not going to survive 17 hours, they're going to come in here like they did before and they're going to kill us" or "hudson, run a bypass"

I find that section of the movie with the sentry gun scenes added back in and some other deleted scenes which only surfaced relatively recently which add a bit more atmosphere and character development really immersive - partly helped maybe by the deleted stuff being a bit rough and ready which actually enhances it in this case.
