Aliens : Colonial Marines - FPS ( They're back ! )

as much as i hate to say this looks like being a flop :p i may still buy it as i actually enjoyed the previous aliens which never did very well in reviews :D
 
How many of the reviews posted are for console versions? Some that have actually played it are saying its not bad at all. No BF3 graphically but then its DX9 so it was never going to be.
 
I found a redeeming feature.

It supports my G19 screen, also you can show the motion tracker on it.

I know, I know... Had to find some positives amongst all this :)
 
From what I've read so far, its seems to be a 5 or 6 hour campaign that can be pretty much summed up by:-

You go forward, enemies come (with little in the way of AI) and you shoot em easily, again and again, little variety, no strategy, easy and thrill-less, predictable without suspense.

He reviews PC and consoles in link below, of course PC looks better than consoles but it still looks poor, main thing is gameplay and that is the same on all platforms.

Regarding DX11, witcher 2 a DX9 game makes 99% of DX11 titles look like ****, and BF3 wouldn't look hardly any different in DX9, it makes little use of DX11 effects.

Not sure what people (game review sites) were expecting ... we knew it was going to be based on the alien universe, it was going to be made for the console and pc and it was going to be story based; also the game was delayed 6 months (at least - was supposed to come out last year).

I havnt played it yet but have seen a fair share of videos; looks decent to me for what is expected ... were we supposed to get something totally different then a console story driven game?

Is it because all the hype and media marketing? - I mean can you blame them trying to hype the game and sell copies?

I think we like games on the pc because they give us good graphics and good replayability - but as you have noticed most console ports dont give much playability.

anyways ... looking forward to playing this myself ...

They were expecting it to not be complete crap, I imagine.
 
I have played about 30 minutes of this so far and its really lacking polish. The opening cut scenes were very janky and the graphics are really poor. Guns feel like they have no 'weight' behind them and you have to wonder what the devs have been doing for all this time. It's on the same level as DNF bad. Yes, really.

I have stopped playing this until someone can hopefully make the game look a little better with a decent sweetfx configuration because at the moment the game looks very poor indeed.
