Aliens : Colonial Marines - FPS ( They're back ! )

I can't even get the game to launch(process shows in task manager but does nothing):

-Re-downloaded files and installed.
-Verified files.
-Deleted Appcache folder and restarted Steam.
-Updated DirectX even.

Only game i've ever had the trouble of starting up out of an awful lot on Steam....can't get a refund as GMG do not offer but not fussed just wanted to see how bad it is.:p

This should have been a success. The IP is already well established. We have the technology now to create a truly remarkable Aliens game with insane graphics. The original Aliens movie should have provided all they needed to flesh out an interesting story to continue the adventure. Nothing overly clever as far as the plot is concerned... just something believable that makes sense. For example:

The "Company" dispatches a joint Weyland Yutani / USMC task force to LV426 to investigate what happened. They find the colony and atmosphere processor in ruins, no survivors but the alien ship is still there and there's still plenty to explore. That would take up, what, 15% of the game? Enough for fans to feel nostalgic and get the chance to relive some familiar moments we have become so fond of in the original film. Any longer and it might feel a bit samey and “ok, we get it, let’s move on”.

Then there is the bioweapons division who could turn up at some point to mix things up a bit, perhaps a group of mercenaries who have been hired to retrieve alien specimens for them. Hell, they could have had part of the game based on tracking, finding and boarding the Sulaco if they really wanted to…

What about the numerous novels based on the Aliens franchise for inspiration?

A wasted opportunity… There really is no excuse.

Totaly agree theres so many game engines already out there and sticking Aliens in there would have made it an instant hit!

What a bitter, horrible disappointment.

Gearbox should be bloody ashamed of themselves. Frankly it appears they have mislead their userbase with a totally different game previewed to journo's last year, hyped to hell and back as the best thing since sliced bread and then deliver this steaming turd of a game. Farcical, complacent and a mirror on the gaming industry as a whole.

TB summed it up in his "Don't pre-order" video - its a disgrace and is verging on the unlawful.

Is your system local set to UK? If it's not, that's a problem. Has to be set to UK to be installed.

Anyway, the game isn't as bad as everyone is screaming about, it's not what we all wanted but for a "game" it's okay for a shooter, loving coop action.

Just done another mission and I'm not feeling the love. I'd say graphics are on par with Doom 3 (released in 2005), replace Aliens and Marines with Monsters and Grunts and all your left with is a very generic shooter with tired graphics. I've had fun with the mutiplayer and that's probably what I'll stick to.

Problem is who is going to risk making another Aliens game now? even though AVP 2010 got panned (I thought it was pretty good) It's still a better game than this in every aspect.

Completely baffles me how a Aliens a movie that was practically made for FPS as never attracted the talent and budget it deserves. Image what Crytek could have done with this.

Yeah it's UK already thanks though...kind of ****ed off now with it, given up and some others have same issue as me...ridiculous.
