The thing that annoys me with stasis interrupted is that it should have been the main game, with the colonial marines thing tacked on as DLC...
Definitely, the main game would have made a lot more sense if you'd played through the DLC first.

I thought it was great personally, so I couldn't disagree with that review any more if I tried. The story actually makes sense on the DLC as its what we've already experienced in the films, mixed with some clever "glue" to bridge aliens to alien 3 especially. It explains the reveal in the original game as well rather well, making that far less of a poor decision than originally thought.
The ret-con of the storyline is awful, and why are there 'Rhino' Aliens? I don't remember seeing Rhinos on LV426.
Hicks died. It may not have been what everyone wanted at the time (inc James Cameron) but that's how they wrote it when they made Alien 3.
I've read the synopsis on the Aliens wiki, I don't need to experience the wonderful DLC to know a complete dog-**** retcon when I see it.

For a start when the atmosphere processor blew up, it would have absolutely obliterated Hadleys Hope, and yet you can walk around it in Colonial Marines and it's pretty much unscathed.
We're supposed to believe that Hicks gets woken up, eventually gets in a firefight which starts the fire (implied by Alien 3 to be caused by acid) which ejects the EEV, and JUST BEFORE THAT happens, a man falls in to his open Cyro tube and gets ejected in the EEV with Newt and Ripley. That man is mistaken for Hicks somehow.
Apparently the advanced cryo machinery in the future can't differentiate between people, and yet it knows who Newt is despite her not being part of the Sulaco original crew.
Don't even get me started on Prometheus....
I'm not passing judgement on the gameplay, based on what I played in Colonial Marines (awful) and the review I've read of the DLC ("terrible") I imagine it's not going to set my World on fire.
I'm specifically talking about the storyline ret-con now, and I don't need to experience that visually (though I could just watch Youtube) to know it's a poorly written pile of horse****.
I think I picked it up for €2.50, at which point all the release bugs had been patched out of it. You'll get a kick out of it if you liked the film, although you may cringe occasionally at the acting![]()
