Alienware announces the AW2725DF and AW3225QF (worlds first 4k 240hz and worlds first 1440p 360hz QD-OLED monitors - launches January 2024)

Has anyone suffered with any headaches related to OLED monitors at all?

It's the first time today that I've actually struggled with it a little and it's something I've never had before. I couldn't work out if it was due to a particularly taxing morning of work but swapping to another monitor and they seemed to disappear quite quickly...
I don't but my gf does. She can't look at an OLED for more than an hour without getting a bad headache.

What settings/mode should I be in, just whacked it on RPG for now and set brightness to 100. Creator mode out of the box looked ass. Very dark and washed out. Sports pops the most but RPG looked more normal.

@will13

Did you fire back up the aw 34? If so, how's the 32" compare?
@JediFragger I want to know this also :)
So managed to get some testing done on both, unfortunately though its bit flawed since I had to run 1440p and couldn't enable HDR, and I'll be honest my memory is like a siv so swapping between would've been useless tbh, I will say though I think there was some recency bias when I first tried the 32" cause looking at them side by side in couple games its hardly any difference, I would maybe say the 32" edges out the 34" but no where near enough to justify swapping if your happy with the 34", I think the extra clarity from 240hz and 4K/PPI is what really wins it but obviously at cost of frames vs 3440

Both were ran at standard with 50% brightness

I think I'll still keep my 32, the extra PPI and fact I never have to worry about games supporting 21:9, and the extra height from 32" vs effectively 27" in 16:9 on 34" UW's really wins out for me

Maybe the modes are different between the 27 and 32 but on my 27 the RPG mode looks redicous over saturated and brightness at 75% was way too much for me. But each to their own :)

My 32" arrived today, for anyone wants to see the size comparison to the aw3423dwf heres a picture.

The clarity is 10x better imo. I'm still working out how to change colour settings etc.

My 32" came with a UK plug
Seems small compared to my 34" UW, but the extra clarity means I'll probably keep this over the 34"

Changed HDR in the monitor menu from 'desktop' to 'peak1000'.
Makes no real difference right now because the DV bug means you're limited to 500nits in the calibration app no matter what you do

For best SDR desktop colour settings check your calibration sheet...
It should be SRGB with gamma 2.2 for accuracy or DCI-P3 with gamma 2.6 for gaming and nice OLED visual pop. Be sure to check brightness tho, DCI-P3 was defaulting to 10% brightness, but I've put that to 60% now with contrast at 75% and it's excellent :)

Does anyone know why the AW2725DF monitor doesn't support NVIDIA's DSR? On my previous 27" 165 Hz 1440p ASUS PG279Q using DisplayPort 1.2 I could enable DSR in the NVIDIA control panel and downsample games from up to 5K (5120x2880) but the DSR options are completely missing from the NVIDIA control panel with this monitor, even if I lower the refresh rate to 60 Hz.

Does the AW3225QF support DSR?
The AW2725DF doesn't support it as you've seen, i've found the same. It will be related to the use of DSC as explained here:

That's a shame, for Nvidia users anyway. AMD's Virtual Super Resolution is working fine here

Could you explain where you change the SDR desktop colour settings please? Is there a way to get it to auto change from HDR to SDR reliably?

So far I've only tested with Call of Duty but HDR automatically kicks in when I load the game up as I've decided to stick SDR on the desktop. The Dolby Vision indicator etc comes up as soon as I load into the game and to be fair it looks fantastic.
