Raised blacks are a common issue with QD Oled Panels depending on your ambient lighting conditions. Not watched his video though to understand his set up but I imagine that’s the issues he’s referring toI’m gonna wait for the non curved version of the 32”. I think AW are the only ones doing the curve, thankfully. Hopefully text clarity is manageable.
Interesting from Optimum Tech about the Samsung panel looking more grey in brightly lit environments. Probably nothing in real conditions.
Damn, the 32” is super tempting but don’t think I can live with the curve for WFH purposes.
It was specifically when he did the unboxing and setup and noticed the difference between it and the LG panel, noting that the LG had better blacks. It was mostly an aside saying it was an unrealistic setup given how bright studio lights are.Raised blacks are a common issue with QD Oled Panels depending on your ambient lighting conditions. Be jealous guys
there is now reports that both of the new monitors have a cooling fan inside.. That's unfortunate because many of the new monitors announced at ces use passive cooling with graphene heatsinks but Alienware has stuck with the cheaper option of using fans
Yeh I have a qd and woled screen. The qd has noticeably raised blacks when there is ambient light, especially in a fully lit room. But starts to be noticeable in the daytime with 3 out of 4 curtains closed, so room is quite dim and the monitor faces away from the window. It was specifically when he did the unboxing and setup and noticed the difference between it and the LG panel, noting that the LG had better blacks. Nah, you have to remember that those pics are under v bright studio lights. Are the black levels really as bad as it seems in the above reviews? I knew QD OLED suffered from the grey/purple blacks in brightly lit rooms but watching those review above it almost makes it out to be a deal breaker. Especially that LTT video above. Maybe the room brightness is much brighter than the video makes it appear but the screen looks purple when he unboxes it.
Yeah true, I do mainly play in a darkened room but there are times when I have to play with lights on or curtains open but I am probably just worrying about nothing. I think the 27" screen will be for me. I do like the idea of the 32" 4k but I don't like the thought of almost having my FPS from the current 1440p screen.Nah, you have to remember that those pics are under v bright studio lights.
The 4K panel feels like a good investment to move to 4K gaming, but I'm still torn as to whether it'll be too big for FPS games, in which case I might go with the 27" if the text clarity is good (need it for work).Yeah true, I do mainly play in a darkened room but there are times when I have to play with lights on or curtains open but I am probably just worrying about nothing. Based off the reviews posted above, the 4k version has less text fringing but its mainly due to the increased pixel density. If the you noticed the fringing on the previous OLEDS you'll likely notice with the new panelsThe 4K panel feels like a good investment to move to 4K gaming, but I'm still torn as to whether it'll be too big for FPS games, in which case I might go with the 27" if the text clarity is good (need it for work).
Also tempted to see what the new LG panels are like as they'll have a new pixel layout.
