alienware AW3418DW Availability in the UK?

I was talking to a guy at customer service who said that on flash sales like that, the system can be slow to update. You may still get it in the next day or so. I'm not sure if I trusted the guy but he said that I literally got the last one and it would be shipping tomorrow. If that falls through maybe I will settle for something else though if Dell can't help either :p
Mine is out for delivery as of this morning apparently. Shall see!

I know this thread is about the Dell but those that have just had the X34P delivered, how do you find the curve? As I think it's one of the most curved screens out there? I imagine it's great for gaming, how about productivity?

The Dell and Acer are both 1900R so Id be interested to know peoples thoughts. I hate curve myself, but I dont mind it on my pg348q. This is more aggressive however.

I've not been a fan of curved LCD panels, I don't think they suit large open living areas. However, in this instance I think the curve really adds something to the overall effect of the screen. The viewing angles are very good and it doesn't have a super reflective screen like my old BenQ, so the curve doesn't interfere with the visuals. Plus the curve allows me to appreciate the whole image when sat right in front of it.

I have two 30" screens at work and there's always a portion of the screens at the furthest corners that I often can't see properly due to angle or reflections.

ps Looks like Dell are going to offer compensation for it not being delivered on time. Awesome.

The PG348Q is another I’m considering. Definitely want an ultrawide. Just can’t decide between the 38” LG or one of the 34” models with a higher refresh rate.

I've had the LG 38in and the PG348Q and if I was buying now for gaming I'd go for one of the newer panel 120Hz 34" models like the Alienware or Acer X34P. The Asus has been superceeded now, it's redundant (unless you can get a good example for about 600/650 second-hand).

It's not just for gaming though, photo editing as well (non professional). So I was hoping to get a 10 bit panel. But whether I'll actually really benefit from it, I don't know. Shame nowhere near me has the few on my list to look at.

heads up guys, Just had shipping conf on the X34P from the easter offer that was out of stock.

Mine arrived like about an hour ago, just got it set up. Zero dead pixels or problems so far, will have to get it configured properly later but looking like an absolute bargain at the moment. I know its not a main feature but the stand is nicely designed and works well.

Here's hoping I have the same luck. :D

Ordered today. LG dont seem to know what they're doing re release and it may not even be all that different.
Got it for £950 with five year exchange and replace warranty thing.
ETA is 10/5/18 however!

Anyone with this - is there a film over the screen that can be pulled off, or is there just bad trimming on the coating?

Here's a close up

I haven't noticed any film coating to pull off, I just looked at a few unboxing videos and never see them pull a film cover off the monitor but did see driver disks in the box which I never got, did you get any discs?

I can't see the image for some reason

Maybe but I just pulled what I needed out of the box - firstly just the monitor, and for the stand when my mounting arm sagged :(

I noticed various cables and literature inside but didn't look inside. Who packs discs these days?

The curve is very aggressive so I've got my old 27" as a portrait monitor now. Actually works really well. Monitor is lovely to play on. I think it does benefit on ultrawides quite a bit. Wouldn't like it on a standard 16:9 at this size though.

Overwatch, Pubg and League is superb on it. Very happy when it only cost £850. Definitely a premium item though it's not that much better than my old Asus TN although to be fair that was also nearly £800 new. I was testing the colour with a Spyder and DisplayCal and it's colour isn't that much better either which surprised me with the IPS vs TN scenario. Although I'm probably using the wrong settings all told.

Might be the anti-glare coating? I've got a similar thing on my Acer X34P. It's not affecting the monitor so I'm comfortable leaving it the moment. Haha.

Think it is the anti-glare coating layer, IIRC my U3415W (both units) and PG348Q all had that.

ordered one £950 including 5 year exchange warranty with pro support. Was originally planning to wait for LG but they aren't releasing any new content or creating any hype and some estimates put release at August! Always something new around the corner so thought screw it only live once. ETA is May 10th though:(

Nano-IPS is going to do nothing of significance, that colour gamut for example will be useless right now, and any hdr or improvement in contrast has nothing to do with Nano-IPS.

You've bought well, but any new panel for me to buy in the future will not be LCD, they need to get the hell away from that tech. I'm actually sick and tired with companies milking it.

Took me a few tries but managed to bag one today for £935.00. inc vat and delivery. Tried several options with different warranty types but they weren't discounting anything for extended warranty so went for standard basic warranty. They sent over the quote for £935.00 but had the 3 year pro Support option left on... So snapped it up :)

Delivery is 11th May! Can't wait!
