Some Hulk to chelsea rumours coming out of Portugal. He's looked good when I've seen him but not compared to the price tags mentioned, and his ridiculous buyout clause.

According to reports Matty James and De Leat have agreed to move to Leicester City for combined £2m

Both players have been on loan from Utd for majority of this season, and from what I saw of them were never likely to be anything more than low profile squad players - so it will probably do them both good to get out of the spotlight and settle permanently at another club. I wish them both good luck

I believe Stoke have a sell on clause in De Leat's original sale - so Utd probably wont get the whole £2m but its a start to our summer business (if reports turn out to be true of course)

Apparently Southampton are looking to pay 2m for Steven Davis (get him out of Rangers when they really need the cash).

Need a cm as Hammond and Chaplow are not even close to prem standard, just no idea if Davis is all that good (he is on FM though...)

Lots of reports today that Man Utd are after Lewandowski, Hummels and Kagawa from Dortmund.

3 excellent players there and probably exactly what we need to freshen up the squad. Reported price for the trio is approximately £50 million.

Lewandowski's agent has confirmed our interest in him. Hummels is an excellent defender and is similar to Ferdinand I believe, so would slot right in alongside Vidic.

The only thing I'm struggling with is understanding why Dortmund would let all three of them go, but perhaps they can't decline that kind of money and the players want to come to the Premier League. Kagawa is leaving anyway so that part makes sense.

They won't sell Hummels, not for less than £20m anyway.

Edit - make that £120m!

"There is no offer. And even if they bid €120 million, [Gotze and Hummels] would stay with us, because we don't want to sell! We want to play football, not to open as a bank. We want to make our five million fans happy, we can't do that by selling players."

I'm sure the Daily Mail linking us with 3 Dortmund players is just as reaction from Fergie being there to watch Kagawa. That said from what I've seen this season I prefer Lewandowski to Gomez at Bayern - I realise we're not being linked with the latter but just wanted to put that out there :p

Besides when has anyone ever signed 3 players from one club before? And if we were to do it then surely Martinez, Muniain and Llorente would be a better way to break this new ground ;)

If thats true then Liverpool will be fighting relegation next season:p. As much as i like Martinez, i dont think him being at Liverpool will help them in any way, shape or form. He hasnt done anything of note at Wigan, since hes been at Wigan, they have always fought relegation.

Must be the papers trolling Liverpool fans:p

This is utterly the wrong way to think about managers "Wigan didn't become great under Martinez so he obviously did nothing useful".

Its about the players, and the wage bill, Wigan spent the least, and have stayed up repeatedly, Bolton are around 100mil in debt. Work that out, Wigan have stayed afloat against teams spending almost twice the amount on wages. Bolton have been paying wages the team's income can't even remotely support, they have players on wages Wigan can't come close to, and Bolton went down while Wigan stayed up, that is a monumental performance.

But ultimately league position is the sum of the players the club can afford to keep, NOT the managers ability. Martinez has gotten more out of his players than Dalglish has out of his, put Martinez at Liverpool and he'd do massively better than he did at Wigan.

Look at Di matteo and Chelsea/West Brom, however Liverpool would almost certainly suffer under Martinez, because new managers usually means, learning new systems, learning new tactics, changes in who drops back, who covers, where to draw the defensive line, how to attack, who starts, what type of player is brought in, etc, etc. Changes take time more often than not, and can lead to short term drop in performance very easily, most clubs don't accept much in terms of drop in performance short term and hope for improved team longer term, Liverpool fans will, like Hodgson, destroy any manager they don't get along with instantly.

Liverpool fans will basically put up with no one less than a top name and won't trust anyone less than a top name, and won't support anyone less than a top name.

Blackburn were better away from home, were Liverpool aswell(even with a "legend" in charge), fans make a difference, a big difference, when they are on your side or against you.

The press are daft. LIke when you get beat by Atletico all your summer targets were suddenly Spanish players (most coming from Atletico) I know they need to sell players but they could at least be slightly less obvious :p

Cant remember if it was Lewandowski or Humell that was recently reported to be refusing to renegotiate his contract extention (as well as Kagawa), which might put a different light on things

Dont think Utd will go after Gotze , I think his transfer cost would blow most of Utd's budget just on him

Two of the other three are releatively low profile players - so its easier to see their transfer happening (especially if they only have a year left on their contract) - Hummel's a difficult one to call all around

I dont disagree they are daft, but some of AB players are exactly the right kind of players Utd need - and the quality of players as well (although admittedly its hard to tell over one or two games).

I'm gonna call it now for Man Utd

Players In;
Kagawa
Clyne

Players Out;
Berbatov
Owen
Fabio (loan)
Bunch of reserve players (the likes of De Laet & Pogba)

Fergie will say Fletcher & Anderson coming back will be like 2 new signings. Scholes will stay around for another season as well.

Surely we can't go into next year with just 3 strikers? Unless Macheda stays?

That would be a massive weakening of the team if those transfers happened.

Few Man Utd fans have referred to Hummels/Kagawa etc. as low key or unknown. You guys should know that you couldn't be further from the truth and there will be tens and tens of clubs in for either player. They are both considered amongst the very best youngsters in Europe. They won't be cheap and there will be lots of competition. Look at Sahin, Madrid snapped him up last summer, everybody knew about Dortmund a while ago.

I dont consider Kagawa as an unknown (I've been reading about him for the last 2 years) I do consider him (if the transfer comes off) a low key signing though simply because we wont play him where he plays for Dortmund. Fergie likes his 2 strikers so he wont break up the Rooney/Welbeck partnership or the potential Rooney/Hernandez partnership so that leaves Kagawa either playing in centre midfield alongside Carrick (I feel this is unlikely) or playing him left wing like we do with Park (much more likely) and the problem with the latter scenario is like Park from what I've seen of Kagawa he's going to be no where near as effective on the wing as our actual wingers are so thus he goes from being this much talked about young talent at Dortmund to just another squad player at Man Utd

Kagawa is much more effective than Welbeck though, he could play a similar role and be twice as good. You just need to put Rooney in CF and stop him messing around in midfield.

There's a lot of things we need to do (one of which is just spend whatever it takes to get a central midfielder), Fergie works in mysterious ways though :p
