I really can't see how you can compare Gervinho and Walcott. Yes Walcott isn't amazing and is incredibly frustrating on occasion but he is light years ahead of Gervinho. In the last 2 years Theo has got 24 goals and 22 assists and i think there is still more to come from him.

Walcott's a couple of years younger than Nani, for example. He's till very young/young enough to still develop a fair bit, imo. £80k/week would be a bit rich, though...

Sadly hes been at Arsenal for a long time and considering how long hes been there, he hasnt developed as much as i would have liked him to. I just wish he would be more consistent when playing. At the moment he has a few brilliant games then goes off the radar for the next 10:p

Perhaps this summer he will grow a football brain but i wouldnt put any money on that happening. But theres no way we should be giving him £80k a week, if Wenger does give him that then hes truly nuts. Id rather us lose him than keep him on a wage sucking contract.

Considering the wages of many of our non performers i would rather Walcott stay and get us 10+ goals and assists a season.

Ignoring the fact he started at 16... he's not bad, for someone who's just turned 23. Henry started doing well at 22, for example (he turned 22 at the start of his first season with Arsenal).

Yes but Henry had a footballing brain, Walcott doesnt and probably never will have. All i see with Walcott is pace and thats about it...sure he scores a few goals but id love to see him become a bit more consistent and think more about what hes going to do with the ball rather than just run like a headless chicken into a defender and losing possession.

Personally i think Walcott might be more successful as a striker as someone said earlier on but Wenger wont play him as one and therefore hes stuck on the wing. Which is a rubbish position for him because he cannot cross for ****.

The non performers should be shipped out, that much i agree with but to an extent Walcott should if he really does insist on £80k a week.

Had he been more consistent through the season then i wouldnt have an issue with us giving him £80k a week...at this moment in time, no way should he get that.

I know Arsenal have distance themselves from M'Vila but i reckon this kid could really offer them something. I also think they need some new defensive cover, their current back 5 is decent but we've seen what happens when they get injured. Arteta is also the key man for them, since being injured their form has been 1-3-1. As long as they stay away from Cabaye/Tiote ill be happy.

Surely not. I've seen him wax lyrical about City after they won the title. He's already on near the £200k per week mark, isn't he? How can he possibly be after more money.

Are they on league win bonuses aswell? Sickening how much these guys get paid.

Apparently Hazard and Toure have the same agent. Probably the agent firing a warning shot to City about Hazard's wage demands.

IMHO, there should be a wage cap of around £50k/annum. Then we'll see who really likes playing football.

Then they'll just find ways round it to pay them the extra money. if the cap only applies to the premier League then it's an unfair business practice and a limitation on free trade and against European Law. Even if they manage to implement it somehow in England players will just leave for Italy, Germany or Spain where they can be paid more. IT'LL NEVER WORK!

It's just the agent being a ****. Any interview with Yaya gives the impression he really likes where he is .

Lol, how come we have wage caps in rugby, then? With other countries being able to pay more (France)...

A wage cap would have to be pan-European, for numerous reasons, though - but that's not impossible, given we already have pan-European governance (UEFA)...

Well, the wage cap in rugby is more effective because the England management have always said they will not consider players playing in other countries for the national side - this only works as a deterrent in rugby because international rugby is still the pinnacle of the sport, if you said the same in football I don't imagine many players would care. However, English teams are starting to struggling to compete with the French because they can't match the wages and can't attract the stars; I can't remember the stat but I think Toulouse's wage bill was seven times larger than that of Harlequins when we beat them this year.

You are aware what Man City and indeed football are nowadays? It isn't a sport anymore, it's a pursuit of money.
