Haha 'Partnership Agreement' master negotiator Levy has, after haggling all summer managed to get Real up from 30m to 30m and a friendly pat on the head.

It might not even be a pat on the head, it could be that Real have managed to get him to agree to give them first choice on Bale or any other players they fancy :p

modric stated he didn't want to play for us again. how completely and utterly disrespectful to the club where he essentially made a name for himself.

he is very good player, spurs miss him but if he doesn't want to play for us. **** him. good bye. hope your career goes the same way berbatov's has.

Thats is not entirely the story that we have been told is it now.....

He stated he didn't want to play for you again after Levy had been a **** and promised Modric he could move this transfer window when he was looking to leave last year. Levy then turned round and said "oh, sorry, I meant that we would let you go this year if our outrageous valuation of you is met".

He didn't 'make' his name at Spurs, they just gave him another platform. He made a name for himself at Dinamo.

Spurs act like they discovered him :p

I'd say he made a name for himself playing for Croatia rather than Dinamo. Well, that's when clubs were starting to get interested in him.

And like I said above, £16m to £35m valuation whilst playing for Spurs doesn't lie.

You get in to the National side on club level performances?

You don't 'just' get picked. I think that his performances at Dinamo got him noticed and called up, which lead to him making a name for himself. Spurs just gave him a much bigger platform to perform on.

Personally I would have said that it has been mutually beneficial for spurs and Modric. Both improved the other considerably and gained a lot from the relationship.

No doubt. If anything, it's a pity Spurs couldn't get the ~40 million they thought he was worth.

His valuation is only going to rocket at RM. I mean look at the players he has around him to make him look even better. If he was that good at Spurs, I can only dream of what he will be like at RM.

Or he will be made to look normal/average at Real because he is playing with class players where as at Tottenham everyone was below his ability so he looked amazing?

Thanks for saving me typing that Biz.

Either situation is possible.

thank **** that palava is over
indeed

spurs need to spend now. damiao, willian and m'vila would be fantastic.
If Levy continues to be a colossal hypocrite (€12M for Willian etc) then he's playing a dangerous game. There is a lot more money in football now, I just don't think Spurs have the relative spending power they did 5+ years ago.

Unless Levy steps up with a €25M+ bid for a marquee player then you could up picking from the summer transfer leftovers.

Michael Owen and Joey Barton appeal to anyone?

Someone said earlier that it was €35M + up to €7M add ons. That seems like a great price to me, and the best possible result for Spurs.

Only Real and Chelsea were interested at that money. It's difficult to say if Modric is worth that, to Real, Chelsea and Spurs it would seem he is worth that much, but to every other club that might've been interested then no he isn't worth it.

If Real had dropped out then Spurs would've be stuffed, left with a throughly p'd off and demotivated player.

Would give money to see Owen and Barton being the conclusion of Spurs summer activity!

No team needs to sign a marquee player though, just some talent to improve the squad. Levy has sold most the quality in the midfield (Modric and Kranjcar) for what £30m + £7m (which can't all be reinvested) but pretty much anyone in the middle is an improvement on the current lackluster choices (and VDV) so it's not the end of the world till saturday morning when spurs fans are trying to cheer for Barton and Owen...

I understood it to be ~€35 million, which is about ~£27/28 million.

Well I'm glad that's finally over. I think Levy squeezed every penny he could from Real and in the end £33m isn't a bad return for a player we paid £16m for and have had on relatively low wages for that period. His hand was seriously weakened by Modric's behaviour. Had Modric sat tight then we'd have got another £5m+ for him.

We need to sell a few more squad players like Jenas, Bentley, Dos Santos and Dawson if we can get £10m for him. Altogether that's around £55m plus a lot of wages off the bill. We could buy some real quality with that but Levy needs to stop messing about with the low bids.... £12m for Willian, didn't Chelsea bid £20m earlier?

Damiao, Moutinho and Dembele please Levy :D

Dos Santos looks fantastic whenever he plays for Mexico, it's a shame he hasn't been given more time at Spurs.

I'm hoping the vague (Goal.com etc) reports about us being back in for Dembele (competing with Spurs, around the £15m mark) are true. Alongside Carrick, they'd be quite a force.

It'd take a minimum of £15m to get Dembele, hopefully. Hoping Dempsey's situation is sorted ASAP. Rumours of us after Richardson, if he goes to Sunderland I guess it could be part exchanged. Dembele is our main player now, so hopefully he signs a 2-3 year deal with a release clause or something.
