Bentley and Jenas wouldn't be useful additions to a league two side, let alone a prem side, they are absolute gash.

ssSSSHH how we going to get shot of them with that kind of talk? ;)

in all honesty, and this is no disrespect to fulham or any other prem team, they could offer a lot to a team given the chance.

Oh do get your head out of the clouds, for as long as I can remember the club has had mountains of injuries upon mountains of injuries every single season, Christ we're only 2 games into this season and already we've only got 1 fit centre back and are having the play our best midfielder alongside him in defence.

We're not exactly stocked in midfield even with everyone fit anyway and given the pretty substantial guarantee that at least two of them will be retiring this time next year even if by some miracle we do keep everyone fit we won't have hoards of angry midfielders not getting a game for long.

Me get my head out of clouds?

If you cannot see the quality we have added to our team then there isn't any hope.

Like what? The ability to soak up wages, dance in the background on Sky sports news and be injured?

We haven't signed just Robin Van ****ing Persie.

Jesus ****ing christ.

I'm not going to make rash judgements on players I know very little about I'm afraid, if you want to convince yourself that Powell and Buttner are going to be dead cert successes then go ahead until I see them in competitive first team games though I'll reserve judgment.

Same goes for Kagawa, I've seen nowhere near enough of him in a red shirt (2 games) to know for sure what he's going to turn out like.

Powell and Buttner weren't signed with the intention of going straight in to the first eleven were they though Tom?

Kagawawa? Is quality, you should try watching some 'other' football mate :) might learn a thing or two.

Van Persie is 'proven' now that he's done it in the Premier League as well.

Honestly, it isn't worth taking the time to construct a decent discussion about this because it's going to take the thread way further off topic and I think I'd probably cry at how silly you are being :(.

For that reason:

You're right Powell and Buttner probably aren't considered to be first team players this season (although the latter is 23 IIRC) hence why I omitted to mention them previously in terms of them actually adding anything this season. It's the same reason why no one is mentioning Henriquez either.

As for Kagawa it's a tad on the late side for me to watch him playing for Dortmund, so unfortunately I am where I am and I can only start to really judge him on what I will now see every week.

I dunno Bucket I think we'd all find it rather refreshing if you actually contributed to the discussion rather than just your usual snide comments from utop the fence you like to sit on

Saints sign Mayuka - http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/saints-make-mayuka-move-339701.aspx

:D

With Ramirez hopefully still to sign we are looking very attack minded. Mayuka seems like the exact signing we need.

:D

YAY! if he's quick, determined and can look up more often than Puncheon it'll be all gravy! (punch squandered a couple of chances this evening to his usual game of I'm better than everyone so should shoot, one did pay off but it took ages).

Him and Ramirez should really add to our options. Just need at least one CB to never have to play seaborne again and a LB to get things going and we should be better.

I'm not sat on any fence, I think the correct phrase you may be looking for is 'utop the perch you like to sit on'.

I've made it clear which side of the fence my perch is, though :).

At least 1 CB. Also a defence minded LB would be great seeing as Shaw would be too young too play regularly.

If we sign Ramirez (as is looking likely) what sort of formation do you think we'll play?
Our current attacking line would be Lee, Lambert, Mayuka, JRod, Gaston, Sharp, Guly and potentially Lallana.

1 is essential, Seaborne isn't champ let alone prem standard. I want Curtis Davis but no ida who it will be. The left back doesn't have to be defensive as such, just more aware of positioning and where he needs to be, which Fox really isn't good at.

I really like the sound of our attacking line up with Ramirez apparently being completed on Thursday. Still think we will do the 4-3-3/4-5-1 mix we have been trying out for the last 2 months as the second half tonight showed it does work when you have a bit of confidence to move and pass through the pressing team. Wack the new guys (and Lee) out wide and let Lallana play from the middle to "the hole" and it should work very well.

Just need to rotate between Lambert, Sharp and JRod as the central striker as each have a different game but really need to be in the middle.

We are suddenly looking spoilt for choice going forward and (when Cork is fit) in the middle of the park too!
