This is the problem I have teams buying attackers for the sake of it, do United not already have a very interesting attack? Rooney, Nani, Valencia, Young, Welbeck, Hernandez..... are players like Hazard really going to add that much more?

Unless a team has a problem scoring goals I see very little need to add more and more attacking players just for the sake of it, I said the same last summer when Barca brought in Sanchez and they broke up the winning formula of the previous season when what they should have spent their money on is strengthening their defence.

Man Utd dont need anymore wingers/support strikers we need to address the area of the pitch which is lacking and that's in central midfield. Get some dominant players in there then it gives your already more than efficient attacking players and even greater foundation to create and score goals.

Players like Hazard and Kagawa would transform our attack from one dimensional wing play to restoring our across the pitch goal threat.

Of course, the same would achieved by buying and then playing decent mobile center midfielders.

While its always lovely hearing that youth have been bought (especially English youth), the amount worries me a little - along with the fact that he was boght from 2 divisions lower (albeit maybe he is already potentially worthy of a team in the league inbetween)

I know he is being loaned back for 12 months, but its still a huge chunk of cash for a player Utd wont see for at least a year (and possibly a signifiicant period longer than that given SAF's liking to loaning new youth players out as soon as they are at the club).

If the club finances werent in such a state (given they have paid £70m or so recently in debt repayments /interest etc) it wouldnt be so much of a concern.

Hope it doesnt end up being another "holding pattern" summer

Agree on some of that. Not overly concerned by the fee. He is always looking to the future, sometimes at the expense of today. That said, if he is all that then he would be an ideal replacement for Carrick in the next 18 months for sure

They should put him in a reality tv program, the whole thing is farcical

All the interested clubs should take him out on a date, each week the public vote out a club until he's left with 'the one'

Don't understand all the moaning about him/it.

He hasn't once said anything (other than that stupid video) about where he wants to go, he's been asked by journalists twice and given the same answer twice. Now he's waited until after his teams final game of the season to talk about it. Much like every football club in the world talks about their transfers when the time is right, usually at the end of their season and their targets season.

Lots of people whinging about him on twitter with that 'whoring' himself out rubbish, all because a bunch of journo's are desperate to sell papers.

this hazard thing is pretty funny,i expect after tonight's game, hazards agent comes onto the pitch with a big wheel with loads of clubs names on,and hazard has one spin to decide where he is going

If it is that kind of time frame then fair enough, I just dont suspect it will be (a year loan back, a year loaned somewhere (closer to EPL /Euro standard), and then some time on the Utd bench) - a guess at at least another 12 months ontop of your total

Totslly admit its a guess though, after seeing what SAF has done recently. Either way hope you are more accurate:)

You know how SAF likes versatile plsyers, Hazard is meant to be a reasonable CM /AM too isnt he? (although I know his prefered position is out wide)

A lot of French football sites are saying Hazard has chosen Man Utd as well.

Not reading much into it however, they're French after all. :p

CM (perhaps not great here though), AM, LW and possibly RW too.

Exactly :)

I just cant see SAF / Utd spending £30m (or that kind of price) currently, with the quality of choices also reported to be available at much lower prices.

i noticed Gill at the champions league final last night, surely he went straight to france after the game to get hazard to sign his contract :P

I wonder if Utd have their eye on a BM player? No disrespect to Chelsea but I cant see Utd getting anywhere with any Chelsea players......

He's going to City and it's a pity because he's exceptionally talented. I don't know obviously but the simple fact is we can't and won't offer the wages they can.

Sadly we're in a position when we have other spending priorities as well.

united might not have spending power of city and can compete with wage bill but surely the prospect of playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world, under a manager like sir alex would catch the eye of a young player like hazard, who has probably seen how ronaldo turned into one of the best players in the world at united and his best chance of becoming a top player is at united. It wouldnt suprise me if hazard did sign and he got the no7 shirt like ronaldo got when he signed

The thing is, City have just got too many people they want to play up front.

If they don't get rid of anyone (such as?), how do you think they'll line up in future?

Aguero is always going to start, so what about Tevez/Balotelli/Dzeko? Okay, they can play two up front.

Then for creative midfielders they have Nasri and Silva, will either of them want to be on the bench a lot? I doubt it. Often in tough games they'll push Toure up and play De Jong in DM anyway.

This is all true, the 'pull' of Manchester United is a very strong one. City have a bright future, but so did Chelsea... (forgetting last night of course :p)

city have spent for last 4 seasons enough money to challenge for the league and they have won it once, and by goal diffrence. He has more chance of winning things at united while sir alex is the manager , then playing for chelsea, city or whoever. The trophy cabinet at old trafford is proof of that
