But neither Kagawa or Hazard are meant to be wide players ideally (though Hazard is better there), so surely our pursuit of Kagawa would suggest he's looking at playing someone such as him behind Rooney?

Who knows what Fergie is thinking (I don't mean that in a derogatory sense), Anderson came to the club as a number 10 player at Porto and Fergie's tried to play him as a central midfielder so maybe that's his idea for Kagawa? But then on the other hand Park was never a wide player at PSV and yet that's where Fergie has played him more or less his entire United career so who says Fergie won't try and play Kagawa from the left?

I'd be extremely surprised if we dropped the two strikers/4-4-2 and played Rooney furthest forward though.

That's what he's saying. He said Citeh could be his preferred position BUT he could be worried about having a starting spot.

I think he could easily get into the starting team, though... and I don't think he lacks self-confidence, so he's probably confident of getting into the starting lineup.

Are the quotes that started this particular discussion actually from him, btw... or have they just been made up, like loads of the other rubbish?

Exactly the opposite - "regular playing time" = going to the team which is weaker in those positions currently

Imo that United, not City

All completely true without a doubt - I cant see Utd spending the best part of £50m on Kagawa and Hazard in the same summer, I HOPE it comes about but I just cant see it

Either way - who ever (if either, being pessemistic) arrives, it SURELY has to be as a cm /am , rather than a wide player. (although was it you or Sham suggesting a few weeks ago Young could also be used centrally - which Im not sure about)

The other thing that comes into this equation is IF the rumours are true that Utd are willing to listen to offers for Nani, obviously getting £20m or whatever for him would make it more likely that SAF is after both Kagawa and EH.

SAF really likes Welbeck, that is undoubtedly true - but I have to say it bugs the *** out of me when he is chosen over Chicharito (when they are both fit).

I really wouldn't pay too much attention to those reasons he's given, he can easily say any one of those clubs have promised him a regular starting position.

I would guess he already knows where he wants to go, he's just not yet taken the final step and committed. Still can't see him going anywhere but City, but Chelsea is the only one I'd be truly shocked to see him go to.

Said it a while back in this thread but if Utd buy Hazard Rooney will have to go as CF again, putting Hazard out wide would be wasting most of his talent, he's best at drifting in the space between mid and attack and turning and attacking the defence. As well as dictating the attacking play from the middle, much like Rooney does, when midfield's drop deep he will drop further back into CM so he can see the whole picture, play the ball forward and follow it.

It'd be beneficial to the team to have him as an AM behind Rooney, regardless of what Rooney feels his best position is, by far the best solution is dropping Welbeck and having Rooney as the point of the attack with Hazard being creative

Hazard wont be signing for us anyway so it's all moot, all these rumoured sources that say we're his first choice is just an attempt to get more money out of City (which will eventually work)

I don't think he's really that motivated by money, if he was he'd have left Lille 4 years ago and double or tripled his wages then. I think he wants the right move for his career and is waiting to be convinced, to be fair to him it is a difficult choice but you can't help but feel City could edge it, he would be so good with the likes of Silva/Aguero/Nasri/Toure to play with

Nice to see Swansea & Hoffenheim have agreed a fee for Sigurdsson, £7,000,000 apparently. A few weeks ago Hoffenheim said they wanted 10, if it all goes through I think that'll be a good signing for them. :)

exactly the opposite surely - he is more likely to be on the bench for City as they have Yaya , Silva, Nasri, at the very least (admittedly floating and not particularly rigid)

Utd ONLY has Cleverley in that position (given Scholes cant and wont play every game, and Anderson being on his way out by all

I mean he wants to join City, but is first trying to ensure he's going to get playing time. Seems a bit odd he'd say that if he was favouring United as surely he's guaranteed to start?

I heard on the BBC podcast that apparently Abramovich really wants Guardiola to manage Chelsea but understands that Pep is taking at least a year out. He wants Chelsea to play Barca-esque football ultimately.
So the BBC are reporting that Guardiola may return to management next season!
What with Man City, Man U, Arsenal and Real Madrid keeping their managers, what is the chance that he'll appear at Stamford Bridge? Are there any big Italian clubs without a manager?

Just because as yet no one has announced to leave and I wouldn't expect any of those managers to be fired. Arsenal aren't going anywhere and in dicussions over summer they could come to the conclusion that Wenger moving on now if it means getting the right manager is a perfectly acceptable over leaving next year with someone like Pep not available.

Same could be said about Utd, Fergie is certainly getting on, and I can see Utd going for Pep now while they could get him rather than not having the option by next year.

I think Arsenal should have bitten the bullet a couple times, surely Wenger realises he hasn't taken the team a single step forward in years, and his system simply doesn't work. Would be much better for certain teams if they'd fired a manager or they'd left of their own accord when a better manager was available to replace them.

I'd prefer to see Wenger go now and get Pep(he might not be great rebuilding a team, better trying than sticking with Wenger though), then he leaves next year and we get someone much worse instead.

I don't think Utd would be prepared to boot Fergie out though, I just couldn't imagine it.

Hence I said I don't think either would be fired, but Fergie/Wenger will certainly talk with their bosses over the summer about various things, and I'd be shocked if they didn't ask Fergie when he thinks he might be retiring so they can get ready for it.

Fergie won't want to leave Utd with the wrong manager to replace him, and if he knew a particular manager was available this summer and would likely be in a job in the next year or two when he maybe had planned to go, he(or Wenger in same situation) might decide its better to go know and get the right manager.

Fegie wont go until he absolutely has to. I appreciate that the owners have to plan ahead, but I can see Fergie staying for at least a couple more years maybe more. He's in the middle of building a new team and I'mo pretty sure he'd want to leave when that is complete.

There was a story on MSN quoting a friend of Fergies saying he has recently had a health scare and the friend predicts because of this next season will be his last. Surprised there isn't a thread about this on here.
