There was a story on MSN quoting a friend of Fergies saying he has recently had a health scare and the friend predicts because of this next season will be his last. Surprised there isn't a thread about this on here.

That was Dave Whelan:

Sir Alex Ferguson will retire "after next season" due to health concerns, according to Dave Whelan, the Wigan Athletic chairman.

Whelan, who is a close friend of the Manchester United manager, told ESPN: "After next season, Sir Alex will call it a day. The pressure is telling, especially when you are at the top for so long. The older you get the harder it is to cope with all that pressure, and eventually it will affect you. Sir Alex is resilient and I know he will want to carry on until he drops, and I respect what he has achieved as everyone does."

Last Friday Ferguson suffered a minor health scare when he was taken to a Glasgow hospital after suffering a nosebleed that would not stop. Whelan added: "I am sure his intention was to carry on for two or three, maybe even more years, but he has had a little scare in the last week or so and that tells me he will think very hard, and realise there is no point trying to carry on for another five years and take the risk."

Looks like the Berb could be off to PSG:

Dimitar Berbatov's agent has confirmed the Manchester United striker would be interested in a summer move to Paris St Germain.

The Bulgarian is looking to quit Old Trafford before the start of next season after playing only a peripheral role at United during the past campaign.

The 31-year-old started only five games in the Premier League and Sir Alex Ferguson has suggested he is prepared to let Berbatov go for the right price.

He has been linked with a return to the Bundesliga following reports United want to include the former Bayer Leverkusen forward as a makeweight in a deal for Borussia Dortmund's Robert Lewandowski.

However, PSG have held a long-standing interest in Berbatov and were linked with a move to sign him 12 months ago.

While I find it saddening, he's an expensive money sink to have sat on the bench if we refuse to play him. His wages can go towards whoever we sign. :)

interesting note about fergie, ties in with a quote on the bbc webby that pep could be tempted if a club try and "seduce" him when hes back off his break.

I don't think he's really that motivated by money, if he was he'd have left Lille 4 years ago and double or tripled his wages then. I think he wants the right move for his career and is waiting to be convinced, to be fair to him it is a difficult choice but you can't help but feel City could edge it, he would be so good with the likes of Silva/Aguero/Nasri/Toure to play with

Either way, Money or not, playing with Cities players and having just won the title. I would be amazed if he didnt go anywhere but City.

Arsenal being linked with Montpellier's Olivier Giroud at the moment. Montpellier rate him at £50mill but his buyout clause is £12.8mill...so good luck to Montpellier getting £50mill:p. Dont know much about him but hes helped Montpellier win the french league with 26 goals so looks like he can score goals...if we do sign him i hope either him or Podolski will ease the scoring burden on RVP, thats if RVP stays.

City won the title on goal difference in the last 20 seconds of the league so I can't see how that is much of a game changer. If anything, I would want to be part of a team that was challenging for the trophy.

City have got plenty of players in the positions he wants to play compared to both united and chelsea and he said that he wants to play regular football in his preferred position. Who would city drop?

Nasri, Silva, Aguero, Tevez, Toure ?

I mean he wants to join City, but is first trying to ensure he's going to get playing time. Seems a bit odd he'd say that if he was favouring United as surely he's guaranteed to start?

He has said his final decision will be motivated by how much time he gets on the pitch

Its easier to see him fitting straight into either Chelsea or Utd as apposed to City (which imo is a much more developed team in positions Hazard could occupy)

Therefore its exactly what he would say IF he was farouring Chelsea or Utd (as people in general EXPECT him to end up at City) - ie he might be trying to tell the press/ public their thinking is wrong without saying it explicitly

As long as Gill / SAF sign Kagawa, Im a lot less bothered about Hazard (Im not saying both wouldnt aid Utd massively, but losing out on both would be a massive failing imo)

edit - in regards to SAF's nose bleed, I know in general anything at his age has to be taken seriously - however Im more inclined to think this is the press making a mountain out of a molehill (unless the club are hiding something, which is a possibility for several good reasons)

Saha and Nelsen released by Spurs. Thank goodness. Levy seems to be the man pulling the strings and not 'Arry.

One thing I dont want is another old 'Arry team ala Pompey

Made no sense why they were both signed in the first place (unless they were doing favors taking them off Everton and Blackburn's wage bills...)

There's too much money floating around Spurs for him to do a pomp...

reckon they were picked up as cover, with saha used to try and get everton to sign penieer (?sp) back.

yeh we loaned out pienaar with saha as part of the deal.

nelsen going may mean we have SIGNED A CB! and saha going may mean we have signed a STRIKER!

i live in hope anyway.

Nelsen I thought was pretty much past it anyway though

that could have been more related to there centre back issues, king having to be treated carefully and gallas/dawson injured or injury worries.

and if its just on a short term contract no loss on there part.

......may mean we have signed a STRIKER!

i live in hope anyway.

just hope its not adebyeor :D

just read this on talk sport

Man United to raise offer for Borussia Dortmund midfielder

Red Devils keen to land Shinji Kagawa and are willing to offer around £16million for his services

Spurs look very close to signing Jan Vertonghen

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18211213

However, I've ben reading that if they don't full their finger out, he'll switch to Arsenal.

Cant see him signing for Arsenal, their priorities lie in other positions. 12M is a huge amount to spend on a 3rd choice CB. Even so. if Arsenal don't come in there are plenty of other suitors who will hand over the money. so if Levy haggles to much he wont be available for long.
