LOL £6mill agent fee??...well that settles the notion that Hazards agent is a greedy so and so...hes really not doing his client any favours with his outrageous demand on the agent fee.

All of which is speculation ;).

True but it's not likely to be far wrong nor unusual for such a high profile transfer to cost so much. With so much competition for Hazard his agent was in a position to demand a huge fee and the wages are just about the going rate for this sort of transfer.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Ronaldo's agent only get £8m from his transfer to Madrid?

It is an eye-watering proposition. Hazard wants £4.6 million a year net of tax (so £9 million a year in salary for any club who sign him) with an astonishing £6 million in agent’s fees going to Bico.
That is more than double, according to one Premier League chairman, the previously highest fee paid to an agent.

i'm not sure. i thought nasri's agent got over £3m or was that negotiatied down?

what others have cost this kind of figure?

Countless others. Even if you ignored any agents fees and signing on fees for Torres, his transfer fee and wages over his 5 and a half year deal come in at close to £100m.

Providing the details of the Hazard deal as revealed in the Telegraph are correct, I'm not sure how they've come up with the £78m figure anyway. He's reportedly going to be earning £4.6m net, which means Chelsea will have to pay him £9.4m (£180k per week). Based on a 5 year contract that's £47m in wages alone. With a £35m transfer fee and £6m agent fee, you're up to £88m.

Essentially it's a lot of money but they must have figured they could afford it. His and Drogba's salaries probably even out anyway.

Be interesting to see how much they spend over the rest of the summer though.

well, i doubt it's countless others and torres was £50m in transfer fee alone.

It's the wages that the likes of City and Chelsea pay that push the total cost of these deals up. Yaya Toure only cost £24m but with his £200k per week, over his 5 year contract he's going to cost City £76m. That's excluding agents fees again.

I like how people don't seem to understand that footballer's wages aren't publicised, ever. When you read in the newspaper how much somebody earns / could earn if they fulfil their contract, it's just the journalist passing round a rumour, the source of which didn't have a clue and simply made a figure up. They'll never reveal who told them it, because it's never going to be one of the only people who know.

In the quite likely situation that Eden Hazard hasn't actually agreed any terms with Chelsea yet, and isn't even going to be signing for them, it'll just be proof that any numbers you've read about this transfer are completely speculative.

Right...

There are plenty of footballers who have big mouths you know. It might be speculation, but I bet the figures aren't that far off.

i would have thought that Eden has a good accountant so if he wants net 4.5 million the club won't be paying double that...offshore accounts etc

there is an article on accountingweb about players taking their pay as a loan and only being subject to.28% corporation tax?

Sounds a lot like Rangers and their EBT mess... ;)

Yeah, you know it's pretty outrageous when Man City refuse to pay it!
:(

That is true though, we apparently along with utd pulled out when Chelsea came in because of agents fees and utd also having Kagawa lined up would have influenced their decision. I can only imagine we too have someone lined up.

Yaya Toure has the same management company as Hazard but different agent and the reports weeks ago about Toure wanting a move was apparently just a ploy from the company to get us to cave and pay the fee. A pay us for Hazard or we start trying to pull Toure away ultimatum.

Now Hazard has his move it will be interesting to see if the Toure rumours come out again.
