Hehe the only time i see Barca even contemplating selling Messi is when hes past his prime...he has a stupidly absurd buy out clause which will put a lot of team owners off. As Barca have looked after him from a young age ie his treatment that they paid for.

Saying that id love to see him in the EPL, preferably for Arsenal but that wont ever happen:p. But hes the type of player who could easily win titles in any country and their league.

Buy out clause won't mean anything if he lets his contract run out. Likewise if he made it clear he wanted to go they'd probably let him. Stupid buy out clauses are more to stop rival clubs making bids and unsettling players and, well, a big number to make headlines with.

LIke I said i don't really see it happening any time soon, I'd be surprised if he played for 15 odd years in a two horse race winning half of them and having won everything already with another decade to go.

I don't consider Ronaldo the better player for having played in two leagues and done the same in both, but a lot of fans will and when you see these programs talking about everything from current players, to those who played anything up to 50 years ago, there are always quotes along the lines of "but he never tried a different league, he might be great but player x won titles in 3 different leagues", etc, etc.

He can end his career with the same 7-8ish trophies over and over again, or 20, maybe 30 different trophies.

I'd do a few years in the EPL, and hell, he still has more than enough time to do that and 2 years a piece in Germany/Italy, and he has the talent to make basically any already top 4 team a title winning side.

Some rumour that Walcott to Liverpool was supposedly a done-deal until Dalglish got sacked. He wants £100k/week to stay at Arsenal - bring back King Kenny :(

I think a bid of 30M will tempt Levy to sell, and I would say that's a fair price in today's market. He reached his peak value last year and his stock has gone down after a poor (by his standards) season, he is also 26 now so isn't getting any younger. Chelsea was in for him last year but I doubt they will be now, and I struggle to think of other teams who could spend more than that who need him.

I thought Spurs were bonkers not to cash in at £40m last summer (most expensive central midfielder ever after Zidane and Kaka?), especially given their strength in depth. Age isn't a problem though, at 26 that means even after a 5 year contract he'd only be 31.

£38m for Hulk? I've seen a fair bit of him and not once has he looked anything more than ok. Are Chelsea going to complain to the FA when rival fans start chanting he's not incredible?

edit: and you've got to question the motives of players that sign for club not knowing who the manager will be.

Looking forward to next season already! Could be some great players or some very expensive flops.

Bit harsh, i mean he's 25. Real and Barca obviously havent come in for him,and not many other clubs can afford what porto are asking right now. He doesnt want to do another year at Porto, Chelsea have a really good chance of winning the elague and will be in the CL as holders. Sure he's going to get a packet, but hes going to be in a great league, great squad with title aspirations. Who can blame him?

I'm actually finding it quite funny how little anyone seems to be worrying about FFP.

As for Hulk at £38m, he may well turn out to be worth every penny, but I can't help feeling it's a huge risk for price. Spending that kind of money doesn't leave too many strikers out of your price bracket, do Chelsea really think Hulk is the best they can do?

£3m more than Andy Carroll, seems a fair price to me :p

I know what you mean about the manager thing but past history tells us that if you see out a 5 year deal at a club the manager will probably have changed during that time anyway. Chelsea are champions of Europe so why wouldn't you want to leave the Portuguese league to go there?

I'm sure Lukaku had similar feelings this time last year. He thinks differently now.

Ah, the old 'Andy Carroll rule', it can make just about anyone look exceptional value for money. :p

A couple of fairly interesting articles about Kagawa to Man Utd:

Manchester United Transfer: 4 Reasons Shinji Kagawa Can Help Eden Hazard Snub

Not all is lost for Manchester United after Eden Hazard made his announcement that he will be playing for Chelsea next year. Here are four reasons a signing of Shinji Kagawa may work out even better for the Red Devils.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...asons-shinji-kagawa-can-help-eden-hazard-snub

With Shinji Kagawa set for a £12 million transfer (rising to £17 million depending on appearances, goals...etc.) to Manchester United, the signing from Borussia Dortmund represents change at Old Trafford.

According to BBC Sport—who never report on mere speculation—United have agreed, in principle, to a deal to sign the 23-year-old trequartista. Only personal terms with the player—negotiations which the Red Devils expect to run smoothly—have yet to be agreed.

The Japan international has had another stellar season in the Bundesliga, with his 20 goals and 14 assists in all competitions being vital to his team.

If the deal to sign the former Cerezo Osaka star does go through, the signing will signify some significant changes at United—as Kagawa is the type of player the Premier League giants don't have.

So here are the five main on-pitch changes Manchester United will make for the 2012-13 season, after they sign Shinji Kagawa.

Hopefully it's finalised soon. Apparently he said in an interview that he supports Man Utd as well, which is a bonus (unless he's doing a Robbie Keane :p).

Personally I think that bleacher report is complete **** on many levels - but as long as Utd finalise this signing I look forward to next season with optimism
