All Three One Plans to be cancelled from today

Just learned about this here. I had been planning to get The One Plan on SIM-only when my T-Mobile contract ended, and was disappointed when it was removed - although I don't usually tether a lot, having an unlimited tethering allowance so that I didn't need to worry about using it up was attractive. That I'd just gotten in a few months too late to get the deal was annoying. Even though it sucks for people already on it to have it discontinued, it does make me feel a bit better about not being able to get it in the first place, I suppose.

I think we clarified that this only effected people out of contract so no satisfaction you did miss out :) Or if you had been reasonable (like most in the thread) you would have been fine anyway.

Well you say that :) However I am not aware of anyone who has been cancelled using their tethering at the medium to low end. I would say reasonable was under 20gb and has anyone in that region found they have been cancelled. I would hope three will just cancel those that are using the service a lot who are out of contract - which tbh if it reduces the network traffic on three I am all for :)
Quite pleased with the deal I got my son £15 for lots of minutes/texts/unlimited data and 4gb tether. I still have the all plan - tethering I use under 10gb a month

My minimum term doesn't end until March I think, but it would be nice if they did cancel mine as I want to go sim only.

Still no text or info regarding my tethering is to be stopped
been out of contract 1 month now and tether everyday Mon-Friday although not huge amounts never been over 20gb for a month

I'll explain the likely cause. T-mobile and 3 decided to save money and join networks because both weren't doing too good financially. So they now share a network. Along come Orange who basically run the show now under the EE banner. If the mickey taking 3 customers were affecting the EE customers network experience by using all the bandwidth, the mobile powerhouse EE will have TOLD Three to cancel the unlimited plans, I doubt 3 had any say in the matter.

It was bound to happen.

You got anything to back that up - certainly not been aware of three using anyone elses network?

Did I miss something - the unlimited plans are not being cancelled - its the tethering aspect that is being pulled in?

I've had no contact at all, looked on my online thing, still says One Plan. I'm on a rolling 30 day contract.

Did you read anything I said?

The usage has affected who has been contacted so far but eventually everybody will be contacted, regardless of their usage, whether they tether or not, etc. Three are removing the One Plan for everyone, no exceptions.

Three and T-Mobile merged their networks into a joint venture in 2007, MBNL, in order to speed up 3G rollout.

When EE was formed out of the merger of T-Mobile and Orange, Orange joined MBNL.

Three and EE's 3G coverage is therefore identical as they share masts. There are a few exceptions with a few Orange-only masts still only available to EE customers, but these will be integrated soon (it was supposed to be by the end of this year but it won't be complete until sometime in 2015 now).

"Along came Orange" - both Orange and T-Mobile agreed to merge, so there is no Orange-running show here, the company is 50/50 owned by each respective company.

I grant you that a lot of former-Orange UK management are now at the top-end of EE but their structure is very much T-Mobile based.

Out of interest does that reflect their 4g networks as well..the reason I ask is at work I have poor 3g from 3 (which I assume is also the other networks) but the people on EE get good signal which I assume is the 4g? If I got a 4g phone would I see a benefit as well?

They have signed a 4G sharing agreement but nothing has been done thus far to implement it.

I have received a letter yesterday telling me my contract is being changed from the one plan next month. (found it funny how they attempted to justify this by saying I was having a better deal – less talk time for more money )
I have used tethering but only a few gig in the whole 18 months I have had the contact.
So, I would say this is coming for everyone.

Does anyone know what they are offering as alternatives (I use the talk time & texts but don't need the tethering)

Thanks

I've had nothing at all from 3. I generally use 4-5GB per month, none of which is tethering - 50-60% of that being streaming from Google Music.

If 3 are not doing any form of retention (been with them for almost 10 years).
Who is offering good deals?
