Man of Honour
The captain has been arrested already.
Sounds par for the course, the same normally happens if a pilot hits something at an airport.
The captain has been arrested already.
Sounds like the captain needs a jail term.
The Captain abandoned his ship at 23:30, several hours before the evacuation was complete. The Command and Control system was therefore decapitated which would have resulted in greater chaos and confusion.
The Oceanos sinking off South Africa had some similar parallels regrding the abandonment of the Master:
Wiki:
Captain Yiannis Avranas was accused by the passengers of leaving hundreds behind with no one other than the ship's onboard entertainers to help them evacuate. Avranas claimed that he left the ship first in order to arrange for a rescue effort, and then supervised the rescue effort from a helicopter. Avranas stated, "When I give the order abandon ship, it doesn't matter what time I leave. Abandon is for everybody. If some people want to stay, they can stay.

To detect underwater hazards AHEAD of the vessel a device such as SONAR is required, which it is unlikely to have.
Who would believe that in this day and age one of these very modern mega cruise ships (2006) with all its technology could come so close to a complete disaster.
These cruise liners always get me wondering aswell, they look so dam top heavy.
