Almost Titanic 2

What is it with the thread title? Almost Titantic 2? Is simulatorman trying to get himself headhunted by The Daily Mail? The only similiarity between this and Titantic are that it involved a ship and there was an accident. By the same token are we going to refer to the Polish Airlines gearup landing the other month as 'Lockerbie 2'?

Lets not sensationalise chaps, we are better than that :p

Perhaps. However I have just been looking at the charts for that part of the coast. 3 different maps put an area of the reef at diffrent places, not by much, but a noticable amount.

It begs the question why they were even anywhere near that close to the coast!

New dive site anyone??!!

Any chance you can link the 3 different maps for us all to look at ?

Thanks

I fully agree

Then let's hope you don't become a:

A) Ship captain.
B) Airplane pilot.
C) Train driver.

It's gross neglegence and sheer lack of compassion for other human beings. People are looking up to your superior judgement and rationality in a hectic situation, to hop off the boat and shout "Stay if you want" is just beyond all sense of responsibility.

So they'll obviously refloat it, wonder if will go for scrap or will they refit.

On the news this morning they said it would be too big to re-float and that they would have to cut it up. I don’t know whether a repair/re-float is a viable option given the size and length of that gash.

The fact the "big hole" is so clearly visible and now above the waterline should make things easier. That said all of the things that weren't bolted down will now be on the "sunk" side of the ship, that might make it very hard to back up on it's keel.

Why didn't the captain just run it up the nearest beach, it wouldn't have capsized then.

platinum87 will live to become a fish fingers taster so don't be concerned about him taking on any of those responsible careers.
