Showing a lack of respect for your boss whilst turning up for work late
is grounds for dismissal in my book

A lack of respect with one comment and turning up 1 minute late is grounds for dismissal! Surely a good boss would remind him to watch his tone rather than fire him, and IMO being 1 minute late on a single occasion does not warrant having to apologise. 5-10 minutes late and fair enough, but 1 minute.

I also don't understand the importance we place in this country on being on time. Obviously some jobs mean you need to be there for a shop opening or whatever, but in other cases does it really matter if you arrive a few minutes late, and then work slightly later to compensate?
