Amanda Knoxx retrial

Pepe at work is ok but I wouldn't ask him to represent me in legal matters even if he were a trained lawyer.

That's not entirely true. There was a knife found which had DNA of the victim on the blade, and Knox on the handle, although the DNA sample was limited.

Well, she lived there, fairly understandable.

The bra clasp was not moved from Meredith's room; how did Sollecito's dna get there at all?

Because he had been in the house several times, the DNA was only found on the metal clasp, not in the surrounding fabric which suggests it was contamination. Did you see how dirty the forensic gloves were in the video?

The only other sample of his DNA was on a cigarette butt in the kitchen.

Source?

Given that he testified that he tried to open Kercher's door, whilst the police were there I believe, it seems to conflict with your statement.

Knox claimed that, during the initial interrogation, she was hit and not allowed to have food, water or the bathroom (this happend in Italy, not Central Africa). She stated she knew the killer, Lumumba, which was a lie. She then changed her story and retracted her previous statement.

At best, she tried to cover up her boyfriend's part in the murder (they were each other's alibi before they changed their stories). Either way, she's guilty but I doubt the US will extradite her because of political pressure, especially from the right where the idea of another country enforcing their laws on americans is frown upon.

Those were the exact quotes from David Learmount and Frank Taylor the lead investigator. :D

That was awesome wasn't it, the investigators not only proved beyond reasonable doubt that the plane had been destroyed by a bomb planted in the rear toilet but also proved beyond all doubt that the plane had not been hit by a missile like the newspapers guessed, so what happened? The Italian court ruled that the plane had probably been hit by a missile and forced the Italian government to pay compensation XD

From my limited understanding, this supposed murder weapon than had been used to stab someone 46 times, had no blood on it, and only DNA on the handle? There was also no signs it had been "unusually cleaned"? Doesn't seem to back up its use as a murder weapon?

The US does have precedent for denying extradition request from Italy. Albeit those were CIA guys involved in kidnapping.

The current treaty that they have with Italy was signed in the 1980s. I'm not sure how many successful extraditions there had been since then.

why doesn't italy just do a special forces raid to capture her like america has done before in other countries without informing them first

The is the messed. If she is innocent she has basically no hope, no chance of them coming to a different decision. On this flimsy circumstantial evidence they will destroy another persons life, just to save face.

This could play badly either way. Firstly if the US refuses to extradite knox, they lose the moral ground of extraditing snowden from Russia - US citizen or not. Secondly, with the whole world knowing how corrupt the Italian political and justice system is, are they really going to send one of their own citizens there knowing the fact that the trial was likely corrupt too.

I don't think the Italians have any idea if she's guilty or not. And what happens if she gets extradited, and her appeal results in a not-guilty verdict. Would that not open up the entire legal system to scrutiny and possibly one huge lawsuit.

They aren't going to ask to extradite her. It's the very fact that she's in the states and safe that let them run their farcical face saving trial. If there was any danger of her being found guilty off the ridiculous case they had, frankly some rich americans would have sent a team of the best lawyers to rip them to pieces. LIkewise if she was extradited it would just make them appeal again and they'd lose face by losing again with the worlds media laughing at them.

This allows them to pretend they won, but take the "we didn't want to fight america over extradition" stance as an easy way out.

This should completely turn to focus on the Italian judicial system and forget the murder of Meredith, it's pointless to try hold an opinion on it or try and follow the course the trial has taken to derive one as they have utterly ballsed it up from beginning to the state it's in now and the case has been so poorly handled that it should just be dismissed entirely. On a world stage they've shown their system to be beyond farcical and now we have a man in prison, a man facing prison and a woman with a warrant on her to go to prison in Italy all of which now with great uncertainty over it because of that nonsense.

Italy should be reeling in utter shame over the injustices of both this case and one of the supposed core pillars of it's society.

If I were Amanda Knox I would wait a couple of months for the attention to subside, then do a runner to some country with no extradition treaty with Italy. Better to live out life in exile than prison.

US won't ship her to Italy. This re-trial being an 'extension' of the appeal is quite ludicrous. It pretty much breaks her double-jeopardy rights as an American. Would be a PR nightmare for the DOJ.
