Amazon delivered to a neighbour that doesn't exist

Update

Hello Thomas,

I'm sorry that you have not received your order
I want to make sure that you actually get your shipment in your hands as soon as possible, and I will immediately follow up on this matter. In order to check with our logistics partner I will ask the local carrier about the precise circumstances of the delivery.

Should the check reveal that the item has not been delivered properly, I will do something about it for you immediately. Note: Proper delivery also includes, for example, substitute delivery to a neighbor or housemate or handover to a relative or employee.

We expect processing to be complete by 4. September 2018.

If you receive the shipment before the results of the carrier investigation are available or if you have not heard from us again by 5. September 2018, please inform us by replying to this e-mail. If you want to contact us by phone or chat, then please use our contact form

Thank you for your patience.

I assume they mean October unless they have invented a time machine in which case could they borrow me it so I can go back and not order this phone :D

Trying to remain on the bright side

Courier driver is enjoying his nice new phone u paid for OP.. but in all seriousness odd for amazon CS to be bad :S They seem to be scripted now ill admit but i suspect you've actually been flagged by there own CS service/antifraud here, Anyone whos missing a £100 package won't email, They will livechat or phone and shout a lot. If a £400 phone of mine went missing id be going quite mental down the phone at them not emailing

I've called them more than I've emailed.....

It'll get resolved, they've opened another investigation and likely this won't be looked at by a bottom feeder and they'll reasonably conclude that the courier is pulling a fast one and get a replacement sent to you ASAP. May be worth stopping the chargeback for now while this is ongoing though.

Lol, charge back takes two weeks anyway I'd rather not stop it incase I can't then re open and it's another can of worms but I'll call Halifax Monday for advice . I will know the result by at least Thursday

Almost exactly the same thing happened to me with a note 8, delivered to some unknown address and expected me to chase it. Got money back after a week of complaining everyday.

Would defo keep at it and hope new investigation goes better.

Ordered my rampage VI from them. Did not arrive on the day and get auto-notification board will arrive next day. Lo and behold same day still get message saying parcel was deliver at 11:45 PM to resident. Complained and they started investigation and said delivery deiver confirmed they deliver and closed investigation which is utter BS. Could not provide a signature or anything. I was only one awake and would recall someone knocking on my door to deliver a parcel at near midnight. Took nearly a week but did finally get through to there more local support team who agreed the whole thing made no sense and sent a new board, but was a frustrating process as they closed a few investigations on the way.

Same thing happened to a friend. They eventually sorted it after asking for proof that you received the package, a note saying it was delivered to a house that doesn't exist isn't proof.
You don't need to call the police because a crime wasn't committed against you. If the package went missing between you recieving it and them posting it then that's their problem. Your contract is with them not the courier, which they are now in breach of and are braking your consumer rights.

Basically the courier stole it

Courier delivered to wrong street. (Andy Clark at 87 Whateverthestreetiscalled is enjoying a nice new phone.)

As has been mentioned, the van should have tracking to show where it was actually delivered to.

If the driver marked it down as "delivered successfully", surely it is the couriers fault not Amazons (although Amazon should be chasing them up on this).

No sign of any delivery driver from my Ring doorbell CCTV.

Did you mention this to Amazon?

Yes mentioned ring doorbell.

Couldn't be more unhappy with the situation ordering items for nearly 15 years online and never anything like this. Shocking how I've been treated

I always get an orange card if an amazon delivery has been given to one of my neighbours.

Also, if the courier stole it, wouldn't it have been far better for them to have faked your signature and mark it as delivered to your house  Putting it down as delivered to the wrong address and wrong name surely just puts themselves at fault.

My gf went to another street with same name and number as my house in Nottingham some 16 miles from my house.

Lady was on nights but did say a parcel was tried to be delivered! Driver apparantly chucked it back in his van and buggered off

Could be coincidence but seems strange

Sorry but I’m not really seeing how this is shocking. It does seem like you’ve needlessly spent rather a lot of time getting worked up over a screwed up delivery over the space of just a couple of days, seemingly making several phone calls and your girlfriend making a 32 mile round trip to some other address.

Packages sometime get lost and you might not get a resolution in the space of a day, especially when they might need to contact the driver/courier etc... it should only have taken a few messages so far and not really needed to occupy much of your time. I’d just wait and see what they come back with early next week and try not to let it bother you, these things happen occasionally.
