Amazon Fire TV

Well, it was my experience of it at least. I had it hooked up to my onkyo receiver, I configred kodi to passthru everything to the receiver audio wise. DD was fine (DD symbol appeared) DTS streams produced no sound.

My acer revo has no issues with DD/DTS/DTS-Master passtru. What setting did you have to enable?

More importantly though I do wish they enabled 24hz playback :(. For the life of me I can't understand why Amazon/Google/etc don't support it.

Under settings in Kodi and in the audio output settings I just enable "DTS Compatible receiver" option

Returned my Fire Stick today.
Was suffering from what appeared to be buffering issues via my wifi. No idea why.

For reference, I've gone back to my PS3 and that has no similar issues, though being fair, that's connected using Ethernet. I'd even put a wi-fi access point basically next to the Fire stick (i.e. within 6 inches), so there was no excuse for the issues. The symptoms were buffer underuns, followed by Netflix dropping it's apparent resolution to something vaguely resembling video tape.

Not impressed.

I have bought 6 sticks recently for friends and one of them has complained of buffering issues recently, she did do a speedtest which was only 2.9mb/s on a 40mb/s fibre line so not sure if its the stick or her internet connection. The other 5 people love them though. :D

I have noticed streaming 720p+ over my wired lan network is near to useless on my fire tv box using kodi. plenty of bandwidth in the line for the data so i am assuming it is on the client end, something in kodi. Any one encountered this??

Nope.

I have my Fire Tv wired running Kodi and play 1080p files just fine... even streaming 1080p from the net works no problem.

streaming is fine from the net, even HD streaming from the net, can't see it being my main pc, as poor as it is all it has to do is send the data but i will try form the macbook to see.

IPTV integrated into the Live TV tab complete with episode guide for something like 600+ channels,

This bit intrigues me, I've seen IPTV that is subscription based.

Anyone have any more information on this, channels etc?

I'd be tempted to get one to replace having to run the inbuilt rubbish they call smart share on my LG.

Funny you mentioned this. I had the same issue last night. My missus and I were watching MI: Ghost Protocol and about 30mins into the movie it started stuttering. After about 5mins of this, I just popped the blu-ray in and we watched it via that instead.

I wasn't going to faff around last night with it. But if the same issue happens tonight, I will test on my Nexus player and see if that has the same issue, even tho it's on wifi.

Anyone know how to test network transfer speeds? I want to find out if how much better things might be with homeplugs rather than my wifi since i cant wire it directly.

I've recently bought a fire TV stick and pretty happy with it, but I'm wondering if there is a way to put a sleep timer on it. I put my TV on a sleep timer when I go to bed and put a playlist on play on plex. Woke up this morning, switch the TV on and the fire stick was still playing through my playlist. I'd have at least hoped the fire stick would have paused when the TV switched off.

I gave my stick away as the buffering issues were beyond a joke. Any application would just buffer continuously. I'm using a chromecast instead now with no issues what so ever.

Been a while since I've seen your username... I had the opposite problems, chromecast was struggling on my poor wifi, Fire stick is working much better.

Just pushed the button on a box to try out. Going to have to do some reading up about best things to do with it, thinking Kodi and some add ons looks easiest way in.

Every UK sky channel as far as I can see, and lots of US cable channels
Most not HD, but apparently IPTV stalker is going HD with the subscription model. Although the free one still works

USB power from the TV? Comes on when TV gets turned on, turns off with the TV

Faulty stick or set up. 10+ purchased, not a single issue

That's the best way, and easiest. Look for Total Installer plugin.

Just doing a bit of background reading before it turns up. I use a Logitech Harmony One, but appears not compatible, bit of googling suggests that the Ortek remote could be the thing to get to pair it up.

I already have the PS3 adapter logitech make, but presume this isn't compatible either.

Anyone ever come across a bug with the Youtube app? Sometimes when I try and play a video it (any video) it dumps me back to the homescreen and I have no choice but to reboot the FireTV.
