Amazon Fire TV

I would compare build quality and specs as well as OS tbh of the ebay boxes vs this.

Bare in mind it has amazon prime, ethernet, usb built in as well as tons of apps and games to play.

It also has a bulletproof warranty with amazon, i think you would have issues with those chinese android boxes.

Also you know amazon is constantly supporting their devices with updates. Those android boxes will never see one unless you do it yourself.

The fire tv is very slick, not as powerful as a pc but it does everything quite fast, a lot faster than the stick.

cant buy the tv currently over here, its out of stock, bought the stick today, will get the tv when its back on sale over here

Kodi is just fine on the Fire. I run it and play my ripped blu-rays at full HD quality with no issues (served from a HP microserver acting as a NAS box over wired connection). Its an identical experience to Kodi running on my main watercooled PC box that cost 20 times at much :)

I don't use custom skins though - and this is the Fire TV box, not the stick.

dont you have a 24p playback issue if you're running full hd movies with the fire tv?

I feel like they're coming out with a Fire TV 2 atm - it's suddenly gone unavailable everywhere, much like the NEST protect did a couple of months back before showing up again as a NEST 2.0

Isn't that a android thing rather than a fire tv thing? Anyway, I have dabbled with a couple of cheaper android boxes, a pi and the amazon fire tv is infinitely better in quality and the remote is just worth it on it's own compared to the tripe the others come with.

yep and there's been talk of that being 'corrected' for gods know how long but still no sign of native support

You mean the Android 24p issue, nothing to do with Amazon.

Not entirely true, theres some android boxes that have managed to sort out the 24 playback issue - if they can do it, Amazon should be able to. Plus from what I understand Fire OS isn't stock android
