Amazon Fire TV

Dont know what to do! Morality issues!

Have had a little play and got it working following the guide! Quality seems a bit low, is there a way to look for only 1080 stuff or is it all 720>?

Mine arrived today, managed to get Ivue TV working (think it's called that) by following a guide on youtube. I'm wanting to install Genesis and Phoenix too but for the life on me have no idea how. :(

I'm following the steps on how I installed Ivue TV (but selecting Phoenix) but nothing seems to install. I can see the list of repos I can download, (Genesis, Mutts Nutz etc..) but can't seem to install them successfully.

Can someone please give me a step by step guide how to do this. I've got Kodi not TVMC. I'm overwhelmed and don't want to keep clicking random things and end up messing it up.

I'd like to add:

Sports Devil
Phoenix
Genesis
Xunity

Just got the Fire TV Box.

Whats the best way to get 5.1 audio (Dolby and DTS) sent over to my Sony DN1050 amp when streaming (via ethernet) using the Plex app?

Can i do it via HDMI or do i need to do it via Optical out from the box?

I have a plex server running on my main PC.

Because of bandwidth most free streams will be 720 or lower. You do get the occasional 1080p cough 3pm game cough on some of the add ons.

Byeo, how did you install Kodi? Was it with the AFT program? You should be able to find the TVMC app on the TV Addons site (Can we link there?) and then use the AFT program to install it and then use Llama to set up a dummy app as with Kodi. This has all the addons you want pre-installed.

As for streaming, I found the Spurs game on Saturday to be brilliant quality and I know for films there is a separate HD section. Although at the end of th day if you want brilliant quality go buy the Blu-Ray!

AFT does ring a bell, I will have to check tonight when I'm at home. Is it idiot proof ? I'm useless and only managed to install Kodi and Ivue while watching a youtube tutorial as I went along.

I can see all the apps I want from the Repository I created but when I click on them to add them, nothing seems to happen and It's stumped me.

It's pretty much idiot proof and it has all the addons set up as Widgets from the home screens so no issues with having to find repositories etc.

Tv addons has a guide for installing tvmc on fire tv, step by step probably overly simple tbh! Screen shot for each step!

Do people use vpns with such services?

Thanks, can I use TVMC alongside Kodi or do I have to remove it first ?

Wondering if someone could answer me this;

I have a NAS filled with 1080p files which are currently being played through my TV via a WD TV live. I have found the WD TV live slow and really really buggy. I have ordered a Fire TV and am looking to side load kodi. I like Kodi's interface and the ability for it to scrape video information/organise my media.

My question is, will the FTV do this for me? Will it play all of my MKV 1080p files with no issues?

Thanks.

Got it up and running now, some good stuff on there although Genesis is crap for dead links up to now. Phoenix is really good.

what are the differences between the 3? I know TVMC comes with a load of plugins installed.

I'd be interested in that to. I just load all my Network shares in TVMC which removes any requirement for Kodi (although I'm struggling to work out how to save them as it forgets the shares every time I reboot!)

Decided against tvmc for now, am i right in thinking returning to factory settings will remove any side loaded stuff like this etc?

Ta!

I'm not sure as some apps seem to install themselves in a "cloud" like environment.

You would probably be better off going into the Applications section and uninstalling TVMC.
