Amazon Fire TV

I'm confused

My mate has a standard tv and it worked fine.
Why would I need an android box for it to work as it did on his tv?(not through the smart bit)

I've noticed genesis has had a big increase on the amount of dead links recently, hopefully the chap running it will get back to is in the near future. That said I have now noticed how much there is to phoenix with regards to films at least, not as simple as just searching on genesis, however if your not after something specific to watch then there's allot there that should take your fancy.

Sorry I meant you need the android software, the fire TV and stick run android which you can root or side load kodi onto, which You can then use a plugin such as Genesis. :)

Believe Phoenix was on there too. There were quite a few different 'programmes' on there, we just used one.

if you want kodi then the best bit of kit currently is the 4k fire tv for £69 on sale today i would snap that up quick before it jumps up to £80.

you cannot put kodi onto a smart tv. you need a smart box/stick.

also it's easy to set up a monkey could install kodi and all the streaming stuff. all you need to do is download the latest version and press a button on the abdwfire application.

plenty of videos on youtube and guides out there showing you step by step if you cannot follow a simple gui.

i recommend the first thing you install to be ares wizard on kodi. by pressing 1 button you can switch from 1 setup to another.

My mate has done it on this and upgraded Kodi to Black Box TV - http://www.coopelectricalshop.co.uk...aign=AW&utm_term=47868&utm_content=HotUKDeals

With new Android platform you can think of all the stuff you love doing on your smartphone or tablet, now on the big beautiful Sony TV screen. The KD49X8307CSU 4K Smart TV lets you connect and enjoy and content, from apps to movies, between different Android devices-the simplest and easiest way ever.

I'm also a bit struggeling with the Fire stick and trying to stream media.

I've got a windows 8 PC and a plain boring LG tv.

Normally after i'd download a film/tv show i'd put it on a memory stick, which then goes into the blue ray player, and i'd watch it on the tv.

But now i've bought a Fire stick and i've managed to use abdFire to install Kodi on the stick, and after i struggled to send a tv show across i've tried teamviewer and successfully send an episode of Shield (1 GB) to the fire stick, and got to open it on my tv.

However it did take a while to send the that 1 GB file to the firestick, so i'm looking for a (simple) way to stream video's from the computer (from a set folder) to the fire stick.

I've installed kodi on my PC as well but am struggeling to share anything with the fire stick.

Any hints/advice welcome.

Setup a network share on your PC. Put movies in that folder.
Add the network share to Kodi as a library folder, tell it that it contains movies.
Play movies.

There's no need to copy anything to the FireTV, you stream content over your network by pointing it at network share.

Ok, thanks, I am making progress.

I have Kodi installed, it's not showing under Apps, though not on the Home tab yet.

Got fan arts thing working, got it to output 5.1. Getting there!

Install FireStarter: http://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-tv/themes-apps/app-root-home-launcher-replacement-app-t3118135 It's essentially a replacement launcher.

If thats not for you, you can get Kodi on the main home screen with this tutorial: http://sideloadfiretv.com/add-kodi-xbmc-icon-to-fire-tvs-home-screen/

At the moment I have it under Apps so it's not too much trouble to launch it.

Got it scanning the drives now but it keep on crashing for some reason !

Firestarter is easy peasy.
There is a Firestarter button on ADBFire, just press it.
This will end up in your APPS and you can set the Home key to do what you want with a single click or double click.
I've got it so one click of the Home button takes me to the Firestarter Apps where I can choose what I want to run or a double click takes me straight to Kodi.
It is really simple to do.
